  1. Pete First of all welcome. You will need a 'residential address' even when cruising. Your winter mooring will not be residential costs more and like 'hens teeth'. Our official address will be our daughters (any relative, friend will do as long as they agree and it is a way of getting on the electoral role), you will have to register with a GP that covers the area of your 'address'. I take no responsibility for this advice and will deny any knowledge if asked.
  2. Not necessarily, the survey belongs to the person that paid for it and the contents do not have to be disclosed to the seller.
  3. Hi Fortunata All good advice above, just my bit (cannot put a value on it), You mentioned that work has been carried out, therefore unless the BSC was after that, the BSC is worthless (was anyway) The boat 'shows no sign of sinking' well paper boats float and show no signs until they do. £500 for the survey is a big percentage of your £10,000 but it is a small percentage of the amount this boat could possibly cost. Without seeing the boat etc. no one can tell you how much the overall cost will be but if needs re-fitting/plating etc. the cost could be as much as the original outlay. Without knowing your circumstances, money availabl etc, but just look at what you could get for £20,000. Will this boat be worth £20,000 (assuming that it needs £10,000 of work) when complete, to your needs. Does the cost (£10,000) include a premium for the mooring and if so is the mooring definitely transferable [ask mooring owner, in writing]. Sorry to be pessimistic but pessimisum has saved me a lot of money.
  4. It is a good [bad] sign that the pump is beginning to fail, bearing failure, impeller loose/worn, motor failure, blockage, somthing stuck in the impeller (filter failure). Doubtful that the water system would need priming, as long as water reaches pump (inlet) then it will pump the water round the system but of course the pump has to work.
  5. If you have not paid it back yet, please do so, as it is my savings and I need it for my boat.
  6. Hi 'Sal' You may well smell but I doubt you stink.
  7. There is also a Surrey fitting but that is used in a different way.
  8. Josh As you have found Canalplan suggest 9 hours a day cruising for 7 days. That is long days allowing for continuous cruising and only one hour for lunch that is a 10 hour day every day, ie. 8 till 6 or 9 till 7. You have a large crew so it will not be impossible but you will be moving all the time. All you will need (not) is a slight delay and you may be in trouble. Suggestion: why not travel for half the days, see how far you have got and re-asses, then decide to carry on or turn round. Whatever you do have a great time.
  9. Before joining this forum, I had hired many times and from my own experience, there were two boats that I was wary of, they were Canaltime and Anglo Welsh. Maybe they were not trained well, maybe they were to thick to take it in. I do not know. Maybe after some stupid sites seen, I was just more aware of them. I try to give the benefit of the doubt but it is difficult some times.
  10. Hi Justme Having re-read this in the cold light of the morning, I now understand what you were saying. We are in agreement.
  11. Further to my post 11# I received the 'CNN' e-mail this morning and 'Thunderbird' flagged it as spam. Thunderbird also informed me it was from Patricia-5962nvs@frischerparadies.de (hope some 'spybots' pick that up ) The e-mail informed me that I had agreed to receive e-mails from CNN but I know I have not.

  13. Dear SYBoater Perhaps before you ask your next question perhaps it would be a good idea to use the search button [top right] or this http://www.ledgardbridge-boatcompany.com/C...arch/index.html Then if the topic or answer is not there do ask the question and just mention that you have done a search because sometimes it will not be found. Someone may point you in the right direction. Teakbank 12 Troll answer here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Troll_(Internet)
  14. There is a similar one purporting to come from Microsoft. I use Thunderbird [part of Mozilla/Firefox]for my e-mail, it will flag anything that it thinks is 'spam' and will also learn if one gets through and you flag it as such. Of course most of these 'spam/viruses' rely on the recipient opening an attachment, the easiest solution is if you do not know the sender just don't open. If you hover over the link it will give you the address, for instance, the one allegedly from Microsoft for an update to Explorer, the link was to non Microsoft address, so obvious I do not know why they bothered. Also get some 'anti-spyware' and 'anti-virus' software all available free on the net.
  15. The only way the peak load (electric) will be less is if the heating element is not used.
  16. My emphasis but the original poster requires separate rooms as well as beds.

  18. I'll throw this in Bedroom as per your existing boat, change the dinette have a 6' 3'' bench along one side that can be extended out to give the required width. Have a free standing folding table or a removable one on a 'Desmo' leg.
  19. I have not done it myself yet, (no boat) but Sue of No Problem (Member of this forum) does it regularly and has a page on her blog how to do it. Link to Sue's page. http://www.choiceforum.co.uk/blog/links/tesco.htm
  20. Get it delivered by Tesco.

  22. Will RCR diagnose the problem? Yes, it is a gearbox problem What help can they offer? Check the agreement/policy that you have with them. Is it worth claiming on my insurance? Read the policy to check it is covered, your excess and whether it will affect your 'no claims' if you have any.
  23. There are washer/dryers that will do a full dry. Example: http://www.cda.eu/Products/Laundry/Integratedwasherdryers Usual proviso: no connection, recommendation.
