  1. Obviously missed another thread, where the explanation was: Breast up. Moob up Man boob All to do with sex equality ????? Mods: is 'equality' allowed
  2. And there are two electoral registers (well not really) but there are two different lists. One that cannot be used for commercial purposes, ie junk mail, and another that cannot. Make sure you tick the box to stay off the commercial one. As a footnote: I have a bad credit rating, why? because I do not use credit. Except for the mortgage and that is paid off
  3. Whether anyone has died does not matter, there is the potential (pun intended ) for them to.
  4. Yes, sorry to steal your thunder Martin. Have the main page as a 'bookmark', then when I checked could not find the link so searched, that's why there was a need for the update.
  5. Yakbird Steve Look here http://www.penninewaterways.co.uk/index.htm all the answers are there. After a search for length, found this; http://www.penninewaterways.co.uk/calder/locks.htm
  6. I have followed this and the many other threads on this subject and being totally non-qualified, I will relate the way I understand alternator controllers. All alternators have controllers Elderly ones (alternators) have a controller that operates around the 13.8v mark (the actual age I am not sure of) Fitting an external controller will raise the voltage to about 14.4v In theory/practice this will aid charging. Modern alternators have a controller that operates at about 14.4v, so does not require the external one. Note: the 'about' is because different battery types require different voltages. Of course I may be talking out of my posterior.
  7. JVD This is just an example of what you are looking for, in no way do I endorse this product. There are plenty of others out there. Link: http://www.power-store.com/view-item.asp?i...&id=43& As has been said on here before, a car battery charger from an accessory shop is not the type needed.
  8. Exhaust wrap. (google with quotes ) Here is one. http://www.demon-tweeks.co.uk/products/Pro...pcode=DEI010105
  9. Hi TwoCV Have a search (top right) for "mobile internet" include the quotes.
  10. With reference to 'narrowboatworld' Another 'mistake', I think, the photographs are of two different boats and they are also in different locks, one narrow, one wide.
  11. TwoCVbloke You have only been here one day, so you are not to know but just so you know with whom you are discussing. Have a look here http://www.smartgauge.co.uk/technical1.html it is Gibbo's site.
  12. John Have a look here, http://www.jim-shead.com/waterways/boats.php, you can search by name and/or registration. Not foolproof but may give some idea.
  13. Ah!!!! I see a problem.............................she will only want your bones, she usually boils the flesh off.
  14. Hi Les Must admit I did just google, didn't read it.
  15. Windows XP Start All Programs Accessories System Tools Character map If you wish to put a shortcut on your desktop: 'right click'........'Send to'........Desktop (create shortcut)

  17. Hi and Welcome. Before, removing the old one. Clean everything, in the engine hole. Take lots of pictures, label everything (twice, at least). ................................................................................ Do not do it yourself, get a properly trained person to do it. (no offence)
  18. Simon Others on here will put you right on all the technical stuff but may I humbly suggest that you check all connections for cleanliness and good contact. Although on pressing the black button the light comes on does it make other connections, if so these may not be making connection. Start simple then..................
  19. My thoughts Read posts. #3,#5 and #6.
  20. Pete A 'true' residential mooring (twelve months) yes, I do not know about a 'winter mooring'.
  21. Silly Bones Do not try to do two things at once, either steer or pedal. Also when turning ensure that you do not lean to far as the pedal may ground and you could go base over apex.
  22. Well Fishface, welcome. I do admire those that want to live outside the norm, I don't by the way, just one point finding an allotment maybe more difficult than finding a mooring. Local news (Midlands) went to an allotment the other night and the waiting list was ten ( yes 10) years. Apparently everyone wants one because of the cost of living rises, another I don't. Good luck
  23. Hi Pete Go to this link where I have answered some of your questions. http://www.canalworld.net/forums/index.php...20&start=20
