List so far: Fan belt (both a spare and check the tension of the one you have) oil & filters spare fuel filters grease for stern tube check coolant level. Mooring pins, mooring hooks, ropes/lines, anchor if going on a river, lifejackets for tidal rivers (I see you are in Paddington).

Hi, I've been living on my narrowboat for a couple of years now. Over this time our 42ft narrowboat hasn't left it's mooring very much. It doesn't seam natural that this wonderful boat hasn't seen much of the lovely countryside, so I've decided to plan a trip (not sure where yet!). I wanted to make sure we're in good shape before heading off on our epic adventure! I've got the interior sorted, new and spare pumps for everything inside, spare light bulb's etc. One thing I noticed the other day was we didn't have a seal for weed hatch (critical). What critical things would you check or advice getting checked before heading off? Any help and advice greatly appreciated! Thank you in advance!

Yes, its a really long time in the winter but not in the summer when there isn't much cool air around! I normally fix a fan on to the charger for extra cooling down, that works every time. But for the charger to be running for 4 hours continually is really unusual. The only thing that I've done on the boat that's out of norm, was to run the engine for 4-5 hours. I only normally run it for an hour to heat the water up as there's exchange pipe fitted so we can get hot water from the engine. I'll keep an eye on it over the next couple of days. Its only been happening the past couple of days, we never usually notice the charger coming on or going off. Except in the summer when the fan comes on often due to the hot weather. The charger is showing a 100% (Green light). Earlier today the charger came on a usual + fan and instead of just switching off (without us noticing), the fan continued to run for a further 4 hours. The 100% Green light was showing but the fan was still running. If the battery is very low then an amber light shows until its 100% charged. I've unplugged the charger from the mains for now. The charger was getting hot but not unusually so. Its just been running for a long time (4 hours). The same thing happened yesterday. I don't know, is there a way for me to fine out? (Probably a stupid question!).

Hi, We have a Tecsup charger inside our boat. The chargers fan normally comes on and goes off again without to much bother! But for some reason it came and won't switch off! Its getting quite hot and won't turn off unless I pull the main power cable coming in to the boat. In the summer we're used to the chargers fan staying on for while but not in the winter. Any advice would be greatly appreciated Thank you in advance!
