  1. The black box in the car is permanently on, it uses negligable power, just enough to make a data transmission every 30 seconds or so. You wouldnt need a camera system that was just an idea to stop fraudulent use of the transmitters. A couple of mobile recievers/cameras on bikes could cover the system. As far as paranoid tin foil hat wearing if you want to CC at a discounted licence rate you will have a black box,  just the same as insurance.

You cannot challenge the insurance company if they drop you for dangerous driving in their opinion.

    Google dosnt lie.

  2. The solution is so simple and now I that am going to mention it I expect CART will impliment it.

There is over a million teenagers with a black box tracker in their car for insurance purposes. Drive too fast, drive too far and your insurance is cancelled or goes up.

These work on the GPS system and they have a multi-carrier chip inside so they can report your driving habits, speeding, braking etc back to the central computer using whichever network works in your current location. If you unplug it you get a text immeadiately asking why. In fact you have to email them to say your car is going to the garage and it will be electically disconnected before you even go.

A simple black box bolted to the roof of every boat will be a necessary requirement for a CC Licence, checked at every inspection and photographically confirmed as you cruise by the new camera system that will be set up similar to the number plate recognition cameras that you drive by everyday checking your car tax and insurance. If you are out of 4g reception the black box memorises your movements and uploads it as soon as reception is resumed. There would be a little transmitter in your black box to communicate your ID with the camera network as you cruise by the camera.

This will be controlled by a central computer with infringement tickets sent out automatically and CART could lay off hundreds of employees that would cover the cost of the system.

  3. On reading the specs of the Anker 757 it only charges in 1 hour on mains supply which you wont have. The 12v input is only 10 amps so it will take 10 hours to charge the internal battery. If you leave this plugged in to your boat leisure batteries they will run down over 10 hours. The solar input is limited to 30 volts at max 10 amps so you must have at least 500w of panels that can charge the unit in 4 hours. 500w of panels will only give you 250w in reality, especially lying flat. The panels must be less than 30 volts.

For the price you paid a proper sine wave inverter and 4 big solar panels would have been better.

Except that we do. A pipeline ihas recently been constructed from the River Severn to Birmingham as a back up to the Elan Valley pipes

Its pumped by 2mw pump stations costing 16800 pounds a day in electricity. The old pipeline just flowed on its own with breakpoints to slow the flow where necessary.  And a Thomas Telford bridge to carry the pipes over the river Severn.  https://www.svrwiki.com/Elan_Valley_Aqueduct

Its difficult to visit this bridge because it is on private property.

  5. The most important thing you must do is to completely insulate the freezer with about 100mm of Kingspan or similar hard insulation. the more the merrier. If you had perfect insulation the compressor would hardly run at all. The insulation has to be glued on so no air can circulate between the freezer and the insulation. Leave a hole where the compressor is and the hot pipework must be outside the inulation of course.

  6. 5g is faster than wifi. The router will recieve the data quickly but it cannot send it by wifi to your devices as fast as it recieves it.

    Does your phone recieve 5g.

5g is transmitted at different frequencies that utilise much higher radio frequencies 28 ghz compared to 700 mhz - 2500 mhz for 4G so your antenna will not work.

  7. Most electric car batteries are around 400v but they can be easily split and reconfigured to give you 48v say to run an inverter/charger. An electric car battery is just hundreds if not thousands of 4.2v li-ion cells.  BMS circuits are available, many people are doing this for their off grid houses.  Search Navitron Forum.

  8. Your only hope is to have only ONE electric socket on board with a 0.5 amp breaker next to it. This will limit the power to charging laptops, phones etc. You need a small full sine wave inverter with standby function so it only comes on when there is a demand and buy a 24v fridge.  Those batteries are useless change them for Forklift batteries. You need 12 large forklift batteries to give you a 24v system. Forklift batteries do not die like "deep cycle" batteries, they are much mor forgiving. I used to install and maintain off-grid rental properties on the Greek islands where the battery banks would weigh 8 tons and be charged by enormous truck engined diesel generators along with over 100 solar panels on each property. Villas with swimming pools.

  9. Your perfect Concept Battery system would be a Li-Ion battery bank from an electric car. These hold around 50kwh+ of power, enough to run a narrowboat for a week. This could be charged by a 50kw generator coupled to the engine in an hour. Just imagine only running the engine one hour once a week. Of couse most engines could only run a 10kw generator but this would still only need to be run for an hour or two every 3 or 4 days.  14hp is about 10kw.  Of course a proper generator would need to be coupled to the engine with a clutch system at a 1 to 1 ratio running at 1500 rpm.  Batteries from crashed electric cars are available for a couple of thousand and generators are cheap. Lets see who will be first to build it???

  10. Yes, because the battery is only 100Ah at a discharge rate of 5 amps. At a discharge rate of 50 amps it becomes about a 40Ah battery and going the other way at a discharge rate of 1 amp it will be come a 150Ah battery.

    https://www.batterystuff.com/kb/tools/calculator-sizing-a-battery-to-a-load.html

If you enter 50 amps for 1 hour you will see you need a 236Ah battery. Tick the box if your battery is more than six months old.

  11. Everyone is forgetting that a 100Ah battery is only rated 100Ah at what they call a C20 Discharge Rate. In other words the power held by the battery when it discharges over 20 hours or at 5 amps. When you discharge a battery quickly or at any rate over the C20 rating the battery loses power much quicker and the amp/hour rate drops dramatically.. 200 amps from 4 batteries means 50 amps per battery which  would probably only last 10 minutes.
