  1. Don't be too worried the section of the Trent you wish to travel on is non-tidal (tidal section starts at Cromwell, below Newark) just make sure river is not 'in flood' other than that just stick to the middle.
  2. Hello all, fairly new to boating, but had a reasonable bit of experience. One experience not yet achieved is meeting one of those large sand/oil carring barges that evendendly run up and down the A & C. Whats reccommmneded to minimise the effects from their wash. 1. when one's coming the other way. 2 . when one's comes up behind. Have heard that one NB was flooded, with the wash coming over the bows, and spun the boat around 180 deg. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Mike
  3. I'm with you allybsc. I too read the article and thought the same. It might not be traditonal, but then we are able to afford to take our NB's for our weekend breaks/holidays, or if we are really lucky able to live aboard, hardly tradtional, I think life on a NB say back in the 1830's was a very different affair. Fortunatly for us we have a choice. I like to see all the different colour NB's and their buckets etc. Hopefully the good taste and style police are few and far between.

  5. Hi, You might be interested in listening to a radio 4 programme today at 15.45 called Keep your Bricks & Mortar by a guy called Dylan Winter. Today he is talking to someone living on a NB. Yesterday he interviewed a young couple living on a sort of farm trailer. The approx size of tailer is 20' x 8'. She described some of her friends who live on NB's as living in a corridor in a ditch !! That's a new one on me. regards nicki

  15. Hi, Sorry just missed your post. I haven't any resent pics, since I have made new curtains and seat covers and a few other cosmetic changes. Pipit needed a little updating and I wanted to add my own ideas and style to her. The pictures are still on Blue Water boats sold list. Another problem being that I am hopeless with this here computer and the thought of putting pictures on, o la la, never no what might happen or come to that, what pictures appear. I'm having enough trouble just typing this little note, now give me a motor bike ( preferably my fazer thou) Now I can cope with that, its this posty bit that gets me. nicki
