  1. From everything I have read up to now , it seems there is so much small print and ass covering that the chance of suing a surveyor seems quite small. feel free to correct me if I am wrong.
  2. I am almost past the reading stage, my house has just sold and the boat search has begun. Exciting tmes.
  3. Nice boat. My house has just sold , so I am looking at the moment. Really looking forward to it. I also loved your comment about loving your boat more than any non-living thing.
  4. No advantages at all. A wooden top will eventually rot and fibreglass is notorious for not sealing very well with a steel hull , so leaks can be a problem.

  6. The ads are not usually on ebay, they are on gumtree or loot and the likes. when you contact the seller they get back to you with all the spiel and offer you a fake link to buy it now through ebay. people think this gives them some protection but unfortunately that is not the case and once you have paid, your money is gone and you get nothing.
  7. I had an email conversation with this person for about 3 days, and then told them to #@#@ off and stop taking money off honest hard working people . They never replied after that.
  8. mines been on the market for 5 weeks and have only hsd 1 viewing . I have already dropped the price but estate agent said the shop next door is putting people off.
  9. As someone who is currently looking at boats, if the seller has given a name and phone number in the ad, and is happy for the boat to be viewed and is not asking for money up front , then it is most likely genuine and not a scam.
  10. Agree totally with mike. The most obvious scams are the 30k boats for 5k.
  11. Some of them 30k boats are listed as low as 5 or 6k.
  12. Hi paul , Just out of interest how is the house sale going? I am struggling with mine at the minute due to an anti social off licence next door to my house.
  13. Isobella from elon , who has just lost her husband is the favourite one. The boat will be in a warehouse in the care of ebay, you wont be able to view but she wants your money up front. A lot of cracking looking boats on other web sites such as gumtree and loot but for ridiculously low prices. These all scream SCAM. Just like scammers then , full of sh**. :-))

  16. You only have to read the thread about Marcus boat thst has sunk to know what ths boating community is all about. The amount if help and support he has received has been truly moving. Every boater I have spoken to has always been warm and friendly. I dont think you get this living on a street . Rick
  17. Hi paul, I have had a procession of scummy neiggbours for the last seven years. I have wanted a boat for many years now but a combination of three teenage boys and not enough equity in the house has prevented me until now . kids have now moved out and have some equity. Peace is what I crave and yes john have spent some time aboard and loved every minute of it. I am aware that life aboard will be tough at times and there will be cold damp and miserable weather but I can honestly say I have never looked forward to something as much in my life . Rick
  18. Hi Mike ,When I say quiet life I do mean quiet. I have had eight years of hell living next to people who have no respect or thought for any body. Sometimes being kept awake most of the night. I am craving some peace and know that life aboard will give me this .Emptying the bog and trudging the towpath etc...will be notthing but a pleasure compared to what I am having to put up with at the moment. The house will stay on the market. Rick
  19. Hi Paul, I am at the same stage as you at the moment, my house has just gone on the market. My reason for giving up bricks and mortar is a quieter and more sedate way of life . I cannot wait to be set free. Rick.
  20. Not thinking of buying it . My house has just gone on the market so my search for a boat will soon be stepped up, I had never heard of this construction so it caught my eye. I will definitely be looking for something more conventional. But it does look a nice boat.
  21. So for that price would it be a good buy?
  22. Yes it does look nice , but I image the hull construction added to the fibreglass top may make selling it a challenge, although I may be wrong.
  23. Are they any better than a steel hulled boat ?
