  1. They can't do that, Shirley. How can I consistently know what I'm buying if they keep changing the recipe? Imagine if Mr kipling did that. Then where would we be.
  2. Thank you. So, probably not a huge difference in performance. There presumably must be some difference though, or they wouldn't bother producing two products.
  3. Anyone know what the difference between homefire and homefire ovals is?
  4. I guess a Lomax is light enough, you wouldn't need to bother jacking it up. Just get someone to lift the front end while you get your grease gun out.
  5. The Kingpins on the 2CV and Dyane are a terrible design. They are sposed to be greased every 1500m or so, and the wheels lifted off the ground to do so. I have changed them on Mrs Rs Dyane a number of times, and it isn't a pleasant job.A number of years ago some chap was offering a ball joint conversion, but it meant sending the swinging arm assembly off for welding and conversion. I never did have it done because the cost was prohibitive, though I'm beginning to wish I had.
  6. Thats fair enough then. I assume you arrived at the N-E bonding questions on the sites you mentioned before I mentioned them on here. If so, I do appologise to you.
  7. Rolls eyes. And exactly how you got to the point you now have, though I suspect you can thank Facebook for that. I thought you were already alchohology challenged.
  8. Ironic really innit. DYOR is exactly what I was trying to tell you earlier in this thread. I am glad you finally found your answer. It's interesting that the one you researched is N-E bonded, yet the one I looked at and the one blackrose purchased was not. I'm glad you finally found the importance of such a requirement in some installations.
  9. Well, at least nobody posted pics of their landrover mid thread. That would have been seriously off topic. 🤣
  10. Ah, dunno. I can't seem to drive facebook well enough to find the page again. Awful user experience. At a guess, I would say its one of them combi inverter/charger things.
  11. Image shamlessly borrowed from a Victron facebook group. The fault by the people commenting blaming it on many things including poor installation, poor design, lack of ferrules.
  12. Ah, yes, I seem to recall we have had this conversation before. I don't think all the Victron temperature sensors are born equal. Mine is on the smart battery sense thing, so I would think its quite accurate, but always seems to read lower than both the BMS and an independant thermometer I have put in there.
  13. And is zero really zero on your temperature measuring device?
  14. Red oxide is rubbish these days. The last lot i got seemed to have the consistancy of water, and would best be described as 'orange oxide primer'. I hear tales of when paint was paint, and red lead was the stuff to use. I keep meaning to try the resin based zinc primer bonda primer.
  15. https://www.amazon.co.uk/UKCable-Ties-Auto-Glass-Fuses-30mm/dp/B07D39WSNJ/ref=sr_1_8 Psssst. Everything after the question mark is not required in your link. Please remember this in the future to try and save the planet. I only quoted your post cos I don't give a s**t about the planet. If I did, I wouldn't chug all over the place in a diesel propelled steel box. Thank you
  16. I wouldn't know. I'm neither brave enough or drunk enough to venture into the politics section.
  17. This place never changes. Same people, same arguments. Hope you are still boating.
  18. He certainly got as far as chapter 4 section 50. Probably has a system in place.
  19. Which also might explain the problems in the Ops other recent thread.
  20. There is also the chemco product that one forum member favoured for wet tolerance, think it was Epochem RA 500m or summit. Yo Dr Bobs in da house. Happy new year @Dr Bob
  21. Or go backwards. Going backwards puts fuel back in the tank.
  22. I hear the familiar sounds of the ice creaking against the hull this morning and I can't help but wonder what damage it might do my lovely new epoxy when we start moving inside the boat. The boat will obviously rock from side to side, but will the smooth face of the ice gently kiss the outside of the hull leaving the epoxy undamaged as it rubs up and down? Or will it form a sharp edge, thus cutting into my rather expensive investment? Should I leap out of bed as I have in past years and break the ice with a scaffold pole? Answers before 8AM please, as that's when I'm getting up.
  23. I wonder how critical cable selection choice, both size and type and the use of bootlace ferrules affects the clamping ability. I wasn't aware there was a torque setting, perhaps I should read the manual closer. If that is the case I can see a torque screwdriver on this year's Christmas list. Come to think of it, I have a small torque wrench I bought for the lithium terminal bolts. What's to stop one sticking a screwdriver bit in it?!
