Hi thanks Richard for your reply .only had boat six months and been busy restoring it ..its got a mechanical set up with a bar /gearstick coming from the gearbox at rear of engine to the front ...although looking very rough the engine runs well though loud...i have got manual download of the engine /gearbox ..when in astern it does make loud grinding noise ..previous owner said this was normal...i have not had the confidence to adjust the brake bands..i was looking to try change to a normal cable lever control .. i am trying to upload a photo thanks for your input

Hi all .. i am new to this forum...i am in need of any information regarding changing the original what i think is a NEWAGE/BMC mechanical box on my PETTER PH2W engine...will any other box fit this engine Thank you Peter
