Hi there, just noticed this on here,, I used to be a member of the black buoy cruising club , in Knowle,, back in the 80/90s,, and know the guy who owned it,, Bob his name. Did a lot of work on this boat,, for him, welding etc,, wood work,, had to refit his stove ,, and all the wood round it,, he fell asleep with it a light and bottom open, and woke up with the cabin full of smoke,, lucky he was,, all the wood around the fire was blackened, welded the back deck drainers as well, and some wiring,, was a lot of damp back then in the top,, ,, he once drove it into a bridge hole, side,, took half the front roof and side out to,, repaired that as well,,. Later after I left the club, 1996, he had the top recovered,, but not involved in that,, and helped a lot when it came to blacking it to. Nice chap Bob, no longer with us,, good days Terry
  12. Better at stoke works for mooring,, by the boat and railway pub,, say hi when you there.

    River Severn

I would hang on a bit,, not a place to be the river at the moment,, just up the road from you at Stoke Works, and going down there end of April.
  14. you can ring Gloucester lock before you get there,, number from boards on the river after Tewsbury lock or the lock keeper at Tewsbury,, it is better if they get the lock ready for you at Gloucester
  15. with Patty Ann on this one,, but to say up hill is easier we find

  18. The river was on RED boards on Monday at Stourport,, and after last night, would be also,, it will depend on if you can use the river
  19. So not so many boats for sale, that maybe good for us as after 45 years boating, this could be our last year, age etc taking over,, so the boat may go. Hope Phil Trotter not mind
  20. I see it as being 1/16 nearer the starter ring, so makes contact easier. seems to work just great take 1/16 off on the face that fits up to the bell housing,, but only up to the lip, , which fits inside the recess for the starter motor, this just makes the lip 1/16 deeper, you may or may not need more off,, mine seemed to be ok, at 1/16, but I would not take more than 1/8 off at max anyway.
  21. yes , just machined it down level 1/16,, to a flat surface,, works great now,, and did my spare one as well, just in case. on my lathe had to remove solenoid as my lathe just 3 1/2 swing but ok. If you are near can do it for you, just bring it along, but I don't know where you are. me between Bromsgrove and Droitwich, near junction 5 , m5
  22. Hi there, mine is a 3lw, and same thing,, have taken 1/16, or about 60 tho off the end of the starter motor, the end that goes up against the bell housing,, works a treat now and no, problems,, but advise you carry a spare. yes is a Transit starter motor Terry
