  1. Hi.. Yeah I’m wondering the same thing, if I have any photos from then to double check the door. I’ll have a dig. But meanwhile hoping Thetford warranty will sort it without quibble. Also yeah, all my guests have been lovely, and I’m sure would say in the unlikely event that happened. They’ve told me about other things as you say.
  2. Hi Well it’s possible. but highly unlikely. It’s only been a hire boat for 3 months and had about 20 groups on it. The oven looks like new still, as in, dinners haven’t been cooked in it. My previous oven was there for 23 years and the glass was never broken, and it’s toughened obviously. I think far more likely that it was incomplete. Annoying 🙄
  3. Yeah tell me about it. Ideal, as long as you like cold chips!
  4. Hi all. Update. I was at my boat earlier and noticed there is a big gap along the top of the door. I thought that strange as obviously a lot of heat is escaping there. Checked the diagram in the manual and there should be a 2nd sheet of glass inside the door which isn’t present on my door. 🤦🏻‍♂️ So it’s been shipped to me with an incomplete door. To clarify, if anyone wonders how I haven’t noticed either the door, or the bad heat retention, the boat is a holiday hire boat now, and I’ve not used the oven since it was fitted. Sorry for seemingly wasting people’s time, trying to find a reason for the inefficiency of the oven, but at least it seems that would make a huge difference and hopefully solve the problem I was faced with. Pretty pissed off that could happen but glad I’ve found it. Many thanks for all your help and suggestions. I’ll be on the phone tmrw to sort the door problem and when it’s done I’ll put an update on here.. hopefully a hot oven! Jason.
  5. I agree. I just spoke to Midland Chandlers, where I got the oven from and he kind of fobbed me off saying that’s what it’s like with those kind of ovens, LPG. It does seem strange that they are happy to take £600 in return for something that doesn’t work very well at all.
  6. Hi.. Thanks for all of that info so far.. My customers last week said they cooked in the upper half of the oven and chips didn’t cook. I’m going to try myself this evening. When I lived on the boat with the old vannette oven I used that method of everything has to be cooked at the top on the highest setting, so I understand that, but I expected spending £600 on this new oven that I would get better results, not worse
  7. Yeah that one was the only one we could find that was the same size as the last one, and therefore the cavity.
  8. Interesting. And would maybe explain why the separate grill above gets very hot, just from the oven below. Heat escaping
  9. The hob wasn’t replaced, just the oven, but the flames are good on the hob. And seems ok I’m the new oven but there isn’t a difference when I turn it up from 150 to 240°. The flame stays the same. And my boat is a holiday rental boat so I don’t know if it’s a recent thing, but it’s been rented all over summer and no one else has mentioned it. So it could be a recent change. Not sure. MTB… I’ve just messaged the fitter so hopefully yes he’ll have some ideas. Yes the oven lights ok, but doesn’t get to a high heat. And you’re right, best not to assume anything! Again.. I expect the correct hoses etc are there as it’s had a gas safe certificate done recently to satisfy BSS and my hire boat status.
  10. Hi. I assume everything is correct as it was fitted by a boat gas fitter. But wouldn’t know myself.. But at the same time a new regulator was fitted.
  11. Does anyone have this oven? Thetford Midi Prima 7200 I recently put a new one in my boat and it doesn’t seem to get hot enough to even cook chips! Any info or tips welcome.
  12. Update. It’s all done. Thanks for all contributions! Before... After...
  13. I am planning to sell the boat Mike, but not yet. And pump out all the way thanks. Had both. Horses for courses. Thanks all for lots of useful stuff. I’m struggling to get the right size plastic one off the shelf, and custom made is pricey. Anyone have any recommendations for places to have a stainless steel one made?
  14. Ooh dear.... that really needed doing! Surely the smell was there for a while!.? Mine isn’t that bad, but I’m def doing it now BEFORE it gets that bad! I’m planning to replace it with a plastic one though. Can anyone suggest why I shouldn’t? thanks for the pics.
  15. Thanks Richard, I’ll look them up. Still can’t see how I’ll get pre fabricated tanks INTO the boat though.
  16. No the hull is solid. Just this tank. I already covered a few thin looking areas with.. well it was stove sealant-as I’d just bought some for the stove and it’s obv solid stuff! And also epoxy on 2 small holes. Hasn’t cut the mustard though. So there are obviously other areas I can’t see. Leaves me thinking replacement might be the only way. There were crusty bubbled up areas and when rubbed down just left thin looking steel pitted areas. In 2 cases, a hole. Guess it’s become thin all over. Wonder how.. shame. Big job ahead it seems. No pun.
  17. Thanks for that thorough reply! It has its own top sides and bottom. I was wondering about plastic.. still have the problem of getting it in though.. How do you mean baffles?
  18. Hi all... my boat has a holding tank problem.. it’s 20 years old and it’s only just started so I can’t complain.. it needs sorting though! There is some corrosion and pitting and it’s leading to the odour escaping. It either needs replacing or welding. I imagine removing it would be a nightmare.. would need cutting up to fit through any gaps. PONG!! Could a new tank be built AROUND the existing one, or WITHIN? Leaving it in situ?! Anyone have any experience of this? Tips? Keen to learn ASAP! Jason.
  19. Hello, having just moved onto a boat I've got plenty to do! One thing I'd like to get nailed is good TV reception and as good as possible wi-fi. So I thought I'd ask you experienced boaters.... 1) Is there a hands down BEST ariel/satellite dish for good TV reception? Is Sky a good option? 2) Is there currently a BEST method for getting good wi-fi. I run a macbook, iPhone and ipad and I'm happy to pay a monthly charge. There seems to be a mountain of portable wi-fi options, it would be nice to know what REALLY cuts the mustard. Cheers, Jason.
  20. Maybe contact Heritage Boats?(Amber Boats) I'd guess they'll take the details of your boat and be able to supply the correct door.
  21. Cheers, good to know. I noticed the base plate is 12mm. Has to be a good thing!
  22. Hello! Just came across this forum when looking up Amber Boats as I'm going to look at one this weekend. It's now 2014 so who knows.. maybe you guys aren't even on here anymore, maybe the bickering got too much for you! Anyway, it's a 2008 Paris 62' model. Seems a decent price, just wondered if there was anything I should be aware of?!?!?
  23. I think I'm going to get a mooring at Winkwell, and then spend some time cruising some of the nice spots around Watford. ie The Grove, Hunton Bridge etc, where I've found there is somewhere nearby for my car. There's a nice vibe at Winkwell, good for my daughters too as there's plenty of grass. Lovely pub next door too (3 Horseshoes). The train noise is a pain but I've lived near trains before and can get used to that. Thanks for all your help, I'm sure I'll be on here again either before or after I'm up and running! Jason
  24. Thanks, I've been down there. I think it had a CRT badge on it. Thanks, I'll get back on my bike and check all of that out. Thanks, I'll get my map out!
  25. Thanks all. Looking like a marina for me then. Winkwell and Apsley are both options and seem very friendly. Shame about the cruising situation though, quite fancied it, still may do it, for a bit at least. Cheers for now..
