  1. I thought C&RT was part funded by the tax payer...
  2. Are the screens to stop another accident like the one last year when a lady fell in the side pound and got sucked through into the lock ?
  3. You were spot on doing what you did and posting this. It's always helpful to know what's happening in certain areas and keeping other boaters on their guard ...
  4. Good point ..If I see the guy in the morning I will try and get some more details..
  5. Surely locked as the Insurance company would expect it to be !
  6. suggests .. Doesn't mean that it wasn't locked !
  7. But he never said that the stolen one wasn't locked !
  8. How do you know that it wasn't locked ?
  9. We are moored opposite and I was amazed that the Police turned up half an hour later with sirens and flashing lights. Hope they catch the Scroates as soon as possible...
  10. We filled up on the K&A last Summer .The marina we used told us that they had a visit from the Revenue the week before. They were a bit put out as all the revenue man did was to flick through the marinas records and say that's fine. He then explained that all they had to do was to check that people selling fuel were keeping records and there was no way they had the staff or time to chase after boaters who hadn't declared tax. At the end of the day you decide how much tax you pay and I certainly don't worry about it. Needless to say we pay very little.
  11. It's just the same... Think about it !
  12. I wonder if the many boat owners you mention would also look at ways of removing the power steering from their cars.
  13. Totally agree , I don't see why people can't seem to understand this ..
  14. We are also in Braunston next week .. I will put out extra side fenders. Give us a wave as you pass and hopefully not hit us.
  15. We stopped there in the Summer on our way back from our cruise down to Bath . Not knowing the area it seemed to be a good quiet spot to spend the night .There was no visible signs of Graffiti which we often use as a guide and it seemed to be peaceful with not many people about .luckily the night we spent there we had no problems. But how are you supposed to know without local knowledge what is safe and what isn't ,when you are unfamiliar with the area.
  16. Our food bill is the same , It's the wine bill that's gone through the roof .. Happy Days
  17. For anyone stuck either side or planning to use the locks ,Just contacted C&rt and all is on schedule for the flight to open on December 21st...
  18. How worrying is that .. The Police don't know how they are doing it . I thought they were the experts . Obviously not !
  19. I forgot to mention the string from the door handle to the trigger of a 12 bore Shotgun ...
  20. How would you know that there were no occupants on a boat and how would you know that it was moored securely when you are on your boat cruising past ..Then going on what you have said above which I do agree with , wouldn't it make sense to have one rule to cover all those situations
  21. So do you agree or not that it's bad behaviour or poor etiquette to pass moored boats at more than tick over speed .
  22. You are most probably correct in what you say . But take a couple of minutes and look at The canal and river trusts Boaters handbook dvd which is on line . Fast forward to 23 minutes and 43 seconds and you come to Good boating behaviour ....Makes sense to me what they say.
  23. We have just fitted an alarm to our boat with signs to say alarm fitted and flashing led lights when armed. It will also ring our phones if it is activated. OK so it might not put off the most determined thief , but it's better than nothing.
