  1. We have had an Enox All-in-line 12V/240V TV for about 9 months now, and we have only ever watched DVDs on it due to our incompetence and ignorance when it comes to setting up televisions. Apparently it can be used with satellite or freeview/DVB. We have tried the old aerial that came with the boat, a satellite kit from Maplins, and now a one-for-all digital TV aerial. Either we are rubbish or our TV is and I don't think we have the know-how to work out which it is (though I could take a guess...) So, if you live in the Cropredy area, or know someone who does, and know something about setting up TVs, PLEASE help us. We will pay in money, or food, or beer, or tea and biscuits - whichever you prefer. Thank you in advance.
  2. We're hoping to go on a bit of a cruise over Easter so that might be a good time to idle past and stop for a chat! Thanks for the advice
  3. Hello, So I know that this is a much discussed topic, and sometimes a hopeless case, but I thought I'd ask for advice anyway. My boyfriend and I live aboard in Cropredy at the moment on a 9 month short term permit from CRT. We work in schools, so were hoping to cruise over the summer and then get another 9 month permit in September. However, there do not seem to be any more short term permits being offered at Cropredy or nearby. Now I know there are off-side moorings up and down from where we are at the moment, but you seem to have to know someone (and I'm not quite sure who) to get in with a chance of them (which is perfectly fair, as I'm sure I'd do it the same way if I was renting out my land). So I was hoping some of you lovely people might have some suggestions as to who we need to get to know, how we could get to know them, or how we could prove that we are trustworthy, responsible and a delight to rent to! Any suggestions greatly appreciated. Alison
  4. I got an electric piano for my birthday so I'm taking it onboard All I have to do now is work out the logistics of getting a fairly heavy piano up over the side of the boat and through our tiny doors! It should fit, but it's going to be an experience!! Thank you for all the comments!
  5. I would love a real piano on board but I think the logistics of actually getting it into the boat would be too much at the moment - it's on the list of ideals for our next boat! Would the kind of invertor needed for an electric piano be like this one: http://www.amazon.co.uk/300W-pure-power-inverter-convert/dp/B00GHMCSZA/ref=sr_1_1/279-4233543-8429346?ie=UTF8&qid=1399162161&sr=8-1&keywords=300w+pure+sine+wave+inverter ? Thank you for all the help / amusing videos.
  6. Hello, We will be moving onto our liveaboard narrowboat over the summer and I am desperate to take some kind of piano onboard with me. Having moved pianos before I know what a pain it is so have been looking into electric pianos, but I am worried that without a big upgrade to our current electrical system I won't be able to run one. We currently have 2 leisure batteries and a small invertor. We're looking to get solar panels installed in the next couple of months. Any advice would be greatly appreciated! Ali
  7. Can you recommend any surveyors in the Cheshire area?
  8. We have also been looking at this boat. The survey says that the hull has some pitting and that the anodes need replacing. The vendor is getting the pits welded, and the hull blacked and 4 new anodes fitted. The work is due to be done next week. Does anyone have any further advice or thoughts on this boat? My boyfriend and I are really interested in this boat.
