  1. I was just curious alan, after speaking to a chap at sawley who live on a cruiser.
  2. i spoke to one chap who lived on one. was quite surprised. had them down as more leisure craft
  3. whats its like compared to living on a narrow boat?
  4. thanks mate. i'll be sure to do that. its quite an exciting time i must say. im going with my head this time. looking at the practicalities of the boat and make sure all the electrics work. didnt check them last time lol. was to busy smiling and thinking how beautiful she is lol.
  5. just wanted to pick up on this, im a motorcyclist and have been since i was 17. ive had no trouble what so ever on a motorbike. nor with car drivers. and this includes a period of living in London. so as long as your aware of your surroundings and dont ride like an idiot you'll be fine.
  6. we have reached a figure I just have to agree to it. hence the 2nd viewing. and I agree I think it is destined. if I go ahead please feel free to say hi and come for a cuppa. I am a genuinely nice chap
  7. lol well I could get an oil filled radiator or something since ill have 240 hook up
  8. yeah im going to look into that. i'll only get to take her out 5 weeks a year due to work lol. theres a spot that's just perfect for an inverter.
  9. no you'd have to be in a marina lol. you know what I mean. it has 240v hook up lol is that better
  10. novice question, can you pay monthly for a Crt license. just checked the fees and its £779 a year for the 42ft boat im looking at buying
  11. She has 240v onboard, no inverter, 2 leisure batteries and one starter. the stove looks fine. as for the heater it passed the safety certificate. it has 2 13kg gas bottles. seen her once and fell in love lol. I want a 2nd viewing to think sensibly and with my head. further to the heater if I go ahead and buy her I would consider taking the heater out and fitting a radiator with a back boiler on the stove. later down the line that is lol.
  12. hey guys finally have my normal id working. Im 90% sure annie may is the one. just want a 2nd viewing so I can view it with my head. and see if ive missed anything. all the other boats ive viewed have nothing on annie may. and thanks for the useful advice, much appreciated. TJ

    scam?

That reply is almost word for word the same as I got lol. I emailed em back lol.
  14. I have to agree. The boats I view had cans if beer and packets of crisps that were nearly 2 years out of date. So how long as the boat been unused? And not maintained. They showed me receipts for work carried out in 2009. What use is that. A lot can happen in 5 years. And it shows the boat to be a money pit at best. Thanks for the support people That is very valuable information Alan. As I was there and the "sales man" said I'd get one particular boat for 15.5k. Now I know why he said that figure if they own the boats outright.
  15. Yeah I went to whilton last weekend with my nephew. Had a good day, but was disappointed by the boats. So I'll keep looking.

    scam?

There's a few. I emailed about one and got a reply and soon as I read the reply it definitely sounded like a scam. Hi, I was away to my mother in law and I just got to a pc and saw your email. This boat its just perfect, Immaculate condition, no damages, once with the boat you will also get all the equipment my husband had, it also includes the trailer. All necessary documents available. I just moved back to Dundee after the death of my husband(I was left with it and a big mortgage due next week). Price £8416 delivered at my costs. I will list the boat on eBay Motors and I will send you a link to my auction, so you can buy it. The engine was serviced in march . I don`t really know what to do with it and since I need to pay my mortgage I need to sell it. As soon as you will confirm the payment to eBay, I will proceed with the delivery without any additional costs for you. You will receive the boat with all the documents. As you know eBay is the best company of online transactions. If indeed interested in buying it and have the funds, I will list it on eBay, as I have a 100% positive feedback with them. Please let me know your decision. Thank you Email Enquiry from BoatsAndOutboards relating to the following advert: FAD2547 - NARROWBOAT BARGE 36FT, 36 foot Tradition... - £ 8416.00 http://www.boatsandoutboards.co.uk/view/FAD2547 Enquiry From: That's the reply I got.
  17. It's still cheaper than renting a house lol.
  18. Some ok comments. Shame about the one bitchy one.
  19. With a few alterations it could mean off the canal network and in a marina lol
  20. Off to whilton to see a few more today. Got my nephew with me lol. Have him at weekends.
  21. Sounds ok. But on that basis my boat would be on the more expensive tax band. And I work full time so will only be able to take her out on annual leave. So 5 weeks a year lol.
  22. This topic has probably been covered so please forgive me. I want to discuss licencing fees and give me opinion on them. Firstly and this is just my opinion, I think if your on a residential mooring then you shouldn't have to pay as much as people who continuously cruise. Maybe a sort of sorn like you would a car. And then when you want to take it out the marina you buy a temporary licence. What do you think? I just dint see how it's fair for people to have to pay the same as CCers when you only use the network every so often. Thoughts?
  23. I've looked around a few boats and in my opinion that boat to definitely to small for a liveaboard. I'd say 40' minimum is suitable for liveaboard.
