Thanks tim. I think what I'll do is get some advice from the boat yard and see what state its in. Would it he cheap to pay someone to prep her for me and I apply the bitumen, over paying someone to black her?

The boat it from a broker. As for equipmen. Not 100% sure what I need. Read a few threads about blacking. And it just says you need to Gove it a good pressure wash and scrap any fungi and rust flakes off. The site selling rytex recommend going over patches with the paint before coating the whole hull. I'm a complete novice so I appreciate the advice. I've checked and the stuff I need comes to £200 all together. As aposed to £600 to have it done professionally.

The boat I'm buying requires blacking and to save money I'm going to do it myself as it doesn't look that difficult. Any recommendations for bitumen? And any knowledge on rylex?

exactly NC you have other outgoings i wont. boat only. i agree they probably are expensive if your paying for a house as well

thankfully there are public toilets and pubs lol. not to mention toilet blockes at marinas lol

yeah i have a full time job so cash flow ain't a problem after i've bought her. i work in the care sector so i have a good job. She needs licensing so im going to pay monthly for that.(£779 a year) my mooring when i finally am able to put her in one will be £1800 a year.

im not bothering with a marine mortgage paul. firstly cause i dont want the additional expense lol, secondly dont want the debt on the boat. thankfully my job pays ok. so money shouldnt be a problem once the initial purchase is made.

i wanted to know if either was better. yes annie may has a porta potti but if a cassette toilet was better id consider fitting one. so hence i wanted expertise opinion as i havent use either

lol well I live in Ilkeston which the erewash canal goes through so it will be near here and I have never had any issues. and I work close by. but my main mooring will be on the trent when I have the first quarters fees.

This is my first (original username), and I have never intended on purchasing/ living on a cruiser. the thread was a curiosity as stated. everyone else who follows my threads will know my intentions. and I don't believe we've spoke before so I wont take your rudeness to heart.

well you still have to live by the 14 day rule don't you lol. Thankfully one thing annie may as is steel stern doors and hatch. not sure about the bow doors.

I prefer Trad sterns. I just prefer the whole look it gives to the boat. I don't really near outside space. and if I do want to sit outside I can sit on the Bow.

So as many of you know im going to view Annie may for a second time. One problem I have if I purchase her is funds. This means that I will have to continuously cruise for at least a month or so until I have the fees for a mooring. Thankfully I wont need 240v straight away. So I guess what i'm after is tips for continuous cruising. I know the 14 day rule. I hear issues with security can be a problem. and idiots cutting your mooring ropes. Anyone living under CCer rules?
