Hello All
I am a new member but have been a frequent visitor and i wanted to let everyone know about the changes in licence refunds. I live on a private marina so only need a licence when i go cruising, and this year i have not been able to get out as much as i could. I purchased a 3 month licence in September and came back just last week, i was told and looked on Canal and River Trust website to see if i could get a refund on the 2 months left on my licence, sent all the paperwork of and expected to get my refund. But no they have changed their terms and conditions in October 2013 and now no refunds are possible on 3 month licnces, i have since e mailed them to see what will happen particularly as they have not changed their terms and conditions on line and there is information telling you how you can get a refund.
Below is my final paragraphs from my email
" I am annoyed and upset with your attitude that you can arbitrarily enforce this rule without any evidence of discussion or notification to licence holders and their agents, and it smacks of "we can do what we want even if we are a charitable company. I doubt very much if British waterways would have tried to pull a stunt like this. I rather feel that there will be considerable requests for similar refunds as it is now not possible to get either a 1 month or 3 month licence and the loss in revenue will impact on the income of the charity, also i feel better time and effort would be more useful getting the unlicenced and sunk boats off our system. I suggest you get your house in order on this subject so you have the support of the people who are funding your charity, i look forward to your reply."
I would like to know what other members think, i do not expect everyone to agree but it would be interesting.
