  1. No not at all. I use the same system but to play safe I just pee on it to keep it damp to fully ensure the safety of everyone onboard.
  2. Its funny how things are worked out because my Dad was also sent to the Suez but they refused to acknowledge he'd even been there let alone give him a medal. This came about because he was doing his stint of National service after completing his apprentiship and was assigned to the Royal Engineers. Apparently only regular servicemen were called up to go and that men doing National Service would be exempt. That said Dad and and a handfull of other men doing their National Service were sent over there ( dont know how many ) despite being exempt. To cut a long story short there were loud noises made in certain quarters and after a few weeks they were all sent home again. Never the less he still served on active duty along with all the rest and the government to this day refuse to honour him with the Suez medal however they do now acknowledge that he was there. This came in a letter to my mother only last year Dad died 12 years ago, I had no idea that my mother was still pushing for him.
  3. I went into a chandlers the other day only to notice that over a wide range of goods you had to read the price labels very carefully. Some prices included VAT and the others were plus VAT. I had always thought that when you went into a trade only shop you knew that the price labeled would then attract VAT at the till and in public consumer shops the price shown always included VAT. This can't be right to label some goods with and others without.
  4. Well give him a present back without him noticing. Drop a bar of soap in his swim as you go past and as it slowly dissolves and by slowly I mean possibly a week depending on water temperature it will disperse the fish from that area without any harm to the fish themselves. You will have the last laugh knowing his favourite swim will be defunct of any fish and him sitting there without a chance for days.Damm ,its just occured to me that it is not so effective in flowing water but worth a try.
  5. Jeeze, How did you know I live in a riverside property ? Its not that obviouse is it ?
  6. I have been an angler for over45 years and to be honest the match anglers think they rule everything. Some Angling clubs have rule books so thick they have to fell a rain forest to produce it every year, they very much need to be the dominant ones to the point where the casual and specialist angler cannot even fish some of their waters for fear of breaking some pathetic rule made up by these people and losing their tickets. So what sort of pea brained idiot decides to stage a match on any water knowing full well boats are going to go through the stretch possibly all day long and then complains about it ? Proper anglers fish these sort of waters when they have accepted this fact or choose to fish at night when boat traffic is at a minimum.
  7. Go to any pikey camp and if they have not got any they will have it in stock by 5.00am the following morning.

  9. Hi John thanks for your reply. . The 12v feed into the invertor are 70mm2 red and black and the 240v land line in and output to the fuse panel are in blue 2.5mm2 arctic cable. By standing off do you mean fixing some 50mm batten and creating a bridge ?
  10. Hi all The question is : Is it acceptable for the 12v and 240v cables to cross each other in the electrical cupboard ? The actual cable runs are kept seperate along the lenght of the boat, however when it comes to the invertor inside the cupboard I cannot find a way of connecting the 12v feed in and the 240v cables totaly seperate, there comes a point where they cross each other and I cannot keep the 30mm minimum seperation.
  11. I'll second that. I was even more impressed when I called them first to check they had the items in stock I required only to find out when I arrived they had none.
  12. Blue Sea appear to do some heavy duty ones. Take a look at the Aquafax site and then ring around for prices.
  13. Thanks Smelly and Gibbo for you quick replies. Isolator switches and battery fuses it is then.
  14. Hi All I have just purchased a Mastervolt Combi invertor. The wiring schematic shows a battery fuse and then a 250amp fuse to the inverter on the 12v circuit. I cannot remember anyone mentioning a battery fuse for the leisure bank before and clearly the 250amp fuse to the invertor will protect the unit . So the question is do I need the battery fuse or is it to protect the DC distribution panel ? Also can I wire the invertor straight to the battery posts or would it be wise to put it through an isolator switch ? Look forward to your replies

    Mink

Try the link below it will explain most things you need to know about trapping mink. Although they are trying to sell the GCT trap you can use their plans to increase the effectiveness of your own. I along with others use the GTC trap to good effect but must admit it is funded by Aylesbury Vale District Council in order to try and erradicate the mink problem in an attempt to improve habitat for the water voles. Every time I set the trap on land all that I caught were hedgehogs , usually the same one over and over again so gave up with that. http://www.gct.org.uk/uploads/minkrafthighres.pdf
