  1. Cavier is fish roe, and nothing to do with excrement.
  2. Dyertribe, I read that wrong and thought you'd written the word they sang about at the end of "Not the 9 o'clock News"!
  3. There were many tramroads feeding the various wharfs along the Mon & Brecon Canal. Oner of the hire companies actually uses the old buildings of one as their office. The routes make some very pleasant walks Much work has also been done in Llanymynach around the Lime Kiln and the wharfs there, which were fed by Tramways from the quarries at the top of the hill. Hopefully this will be reachable by boat from the main system very soon.
  4. Cheshire Ring in a week doing 5 or 6 hours days, as the OP stated, would be impossible. To keep to teen age lads "interested" why not cruise up to Castlefields in Manchester, and a side trip either down the lift onto the Weaver, or up towards Wigan?
  5. Agreed, Julian. The OP is keeping very quiet about that question.
  6. You do not "own" the water, you only own the ground beneath the water, therefore anything floating on that water needs to be registered, licenced and insured. CaRT and/or EA "own" the navigation rights on that water and if your boat is floating on said water you have to abide by their rules. That may also include charges for a CaRT End of Garden Mooring. Riparian Rights do not automatically give you any Rights and this should have been pointed out to you by your Solicitor when you bought the house. It might be a very good idea to get a full copy of your deeds and inspect them thoroughly. Currently you don't appear to have done that. I suggest you go back to your solicitor and get some full and PROPER advice.
  7. As above, I've used this company for a while for LED bulbs: http://www.ultraleds.com/ and have never had a problem with any. Always long lasting and they do have the fittings the OP needs. I have bought cheap Chinese ones on Ebay and found the quality variable.
  8. Sorry, but you are obviously still missing out the pertinent facts. Seems to be a common trait by some posters at the moment!!
  9. So are we only getting half the story here? Have some very pertinent facts been left out or conveniently ignored by the OP?
  10. See previous threads about this! Sorry, but this is utter rubbish!!. Correct. Myth. Correct and I wish people would start to realise this. 999 and 112 are EXACTLY the same service. See my comment early.
  11. Oh FFS!! What has his eligibility for Diablement Benifits got to do with him abiding by the rules of CaRT? He has been given plenty of chances to comply, but has stuck 2 fingers up to CaRT. He seems to think CaRT and society owe him a living. Dream on, sunshine!!
  12. Triangulation on the GSM network is not immediately available. The operator will have received your phone number and a Cell Identity when you rang. That cell can be as small as one Hall at the NEC to thousands of hectares in Mid Wales. Traingulation is available but takes a while to set up and is not that accurate in many areas. Some Emergency Services areas are better than others over rural area positioning. Many know get an OS map display on their screen when you ring in so can see the area and need few questions to get an exact "fix" There was a long thread on this subject and the 999/112 system earlier this year. A trapped animal is an emergency, so using 101 was inapproprate. Remember that a 101 call goes through to the Police Force HQ, so in Worcestershire Hindlip Hall, and not an Emergency Services Control Room. They will have far less facilities for finding your position.
  13. As long as you have the correct regulator for the relevant gas cylinder it shouldn't matter. Patio Gas is just another marketing ploy by Calor.
  14. Lyons Boatyard always used to be worth a look-at, especially if Frank was in a good mood. (RIP)
  15. Agreed, because that also includes the "politically" active hirer or share-boater. (ie one who participates in this and/or other forums)
  16. I always thought M8 was a metric bolt size. Perhaps it was part of what Vikki needed. Glad you got it sorted.
  17. In that case get in touch with the Official Receiver urgently to stake your claim on your property.
  18. I get the "living quarters" bit, sort of a demountable living pod, but I question the suitability of a twin outdrive system. Would it be better to convert a diesel driven wideboat to an electric drive one, using the current fitted gearbox/prop? Further. How are you going to deal with your grey waste water? In the "truck mount" you have room underneath to drain it away, but if the "pod" is on the base of a barge.........................?
  19. Springer. Looks tidier and better cared for.
  20. I'm trying to work out why a school boy, with no boat, and with parents with no boat, needs to know the best mooring points. Whilst I'm sure he has the greatest of intentions all his entries do have a "juvenile" feel to them.
  21. Pigs might fly!! There is no way Stratford would give anything away for nothing!!
