  1. Thanks Chalky, I had read the other thread, it seemed to concentrate more on the north of Heyford section - but i WAS wondering about the Cherwell river-y bit - you read my mind! If conditions are bad we would only go as far as Thrupp (- two pubs AND a tea room!) hopefully we WILL get as far as Thrupp.. Cheers! Would love to get that far.. have to see how soon i stop zig-zagging up the cut..
  2. maybe you could upload it to YouTube and post a link here? Would love to see it...
  3. Hi all, first timer (me) and did-it-as-a-teenager (him) going for a 3 night trip up the Oxford canal. Got a 33' Trad (with a stove in! ) from College Cruisers in Oxford.. I did my homework and there's no stoppages affecting us (return day is the 4th Nov). We're both getting very exited! Any tips/places to see/known hazards we should be aware of? Cheers! ETA.. and how far do you think we'll get (ish) if we leave friday afternoon and have to turn around on Sunday morning?
  4. Hi... Made a couple of posts before i noticed this - oops! Meself and t'other 'arf are finally (nearly) in the position to get our own boat - i'm new to boating but he's not.. Just like to say that this forum is a truly awesome source of info for me atm, as - altho' i used to live on a bus (*reaches for hard-hat*) there's an awful big difference in the tech to get one's head around.. (altho' some of the "politics" does seem hauntingly familiar!) Thanks to all the regular posters for all the informative stuff i've read so far - you rock! May your lights never dim.... xxx
  5. I work in the lighting trade (live events). It's true that the stuff coming over from china in unregulated (dangerously) and of unreliable quality. We never use it. Also - LED retro-fit is BIG business and R & D is relatively cheap, so every 6 months or so we take another big leap in the technology, e.g. dimmable units.. The ones developed as little as 3 years ago are now obsolete in my sector! Altho this IS rather ironic.. as the european makes DO last forever, and that goes for domestic, "12v", and big wooshy stage-lighting..
  6. Thank god I'm not the only one!
  7. Cheers Paul C that's very helpful information......
