  1. Callisto has just gone up the Oxford from Braunston
  2. Sorry, but it is going to corrode. Stainless and aluminium don't like each other.
  3. Where are you, you could possibly use some help.
  4. New Creation farm on the Grand Union at Nether Heyford. They will cut and machine to any size and supply small amounts . They could supply iroko with would be very resistant to rot and durable.
  5. Not that will not require a substantial amount of work either hull or interior
  6. I' a proper bloater. Does that count.
  7. I finally tracked this leak down, it appeared to be coming from under the box but I could not see from where but the oil was collecting in a tray. With the engine running, I was looking under the box with a mirror when I caught site of a drip from the oil cooler. Further investigation revealed a tiny pinhole in the underside of the cooler which was allowing oil to run around the box and look like a leak from beneath. About bloody time, it's been driving me potty.
  8. Glad to see that you made it Junior. You passed us at about 10.00 this morning at Heyford Wharf but I had my head in the engine and missed you. Will you be heading back to Braunston this week? I am soloing that way myself, we could share the locks.
  9. It's pretty quiet on the GU at the moment too. We are moored at Heyford wharf tonight and the only action is the rain.
  10. That doesn't sound quite right, there must be a drain somewhere. Showers usually drain into a small sealed sump/tank from where the water is pumped out through a skin fitting.
  11. Try a car paint suppliers, there are loads of painted plastic bit on cars.
  12. Quality, tidy wiring was one of the things that helped our choice when we bought Cariad!
  13. What a nice neat wiring setup..........lush!
  14. Is this boat on Whilton's website and what's it's name?
  15. I will be about in your area next week if you would like a second opinion, my boat is going back in tomorrow after blacking. I could meet you at Whilton on Wednesday if it would be of any help. Cheers, Simon.
  16. That's a neat solution, who supplies them?
  17. "Tension OK and then some slippage" If you are allowing it to slip for any significant time it will break. Sounds like it is an alignment problem or a burr or rough spot on a pulley.
  18. So what was your overall impression of the boat? Did you start the engine? Whilton do like to make excuses (flat batteries) for not starting engines, but it pays to be persistent . Will this be your first boat?
  19. As above, it depends more on the frequency of oil changes. Is the boat in your neck of the woods? I will be up near you from Friday, happy to give a second opinion.
  20. Where are you in the southeast?
  21. It's scenes like this that just remind me why we do it!
  22. Sorry Cassi, boat delivery this weekend otherwise would have been happy to help. Let me know if you need further help. Simon.
  23. Trad stern for me, cruising all year I just like the extra weather protection.
