The first thing I find wrong with the idea us it's on the roof, the second thing is it's on the roof in a horrible big box, the third thing is it's on the roof.... The only things that should be on the roof, in my opinion, are poles, planks and ropes. Ok, we do have some solar panels up there, but they were originally pole-mounted at our (then) mooring, but when we had to leave they had either to be sold or put on the roof, Krystyna persuaded me to keep them. In the DAF we had in our Luxemotor - same engine by the sound of it, straight 6 ? - I used to use Morris's 10/40. I still use their oil now in the Lister, but straight 30. Mike

If you overload the inverter at the very least you will blow a fuse or trip, at worst the inverter itself, so then you will have to drag it out anyway. Check first, somewhere on it (label or model no) it will have a rating, most likely in VA, multiply this figure by 0.7 to get a good margin of safety in Watts. Mike

To re-assure those who asked, the Birmingham Floating Market will be going ahead, it is now very much an entity on its own. As for the Friday night social, we think this will still happen as planned by Cotswoldman, I am sure he will keep us advised. Just as an adjunct to this, there may well also be a floating Christmas Market and there will be a summer one too, both at the Birmingham Waterfront. All this the result of an idea originated by Cotswoldman. Mike RCTA Admin

I fitted a very similar range in our (then) Luxemotor, 5 burners, grill and double oven. Supplied from one 27kg bottle with a standard single regulator via 10mm pipework. Never had a problem, rain or shine, sun or snow/ice/freezing conditions and we lived aboard 24/7. Mime

Beware Galvanic Isolators, they are not always doing what you presume they should be. The action of a GI can be completely negated and even reversed (such that it starts to cause corrosion) by simply plugging in a Switched Mode device into the supply. Do I have one if those I hear you ask, most probably you have several, laptop charger, mobile charger, etc., etc. Mike
