  1. Thanks for all the replies, as I say I'm looking to build a perfect solution. Some ideas I had were: Using urine to keep solids warm Filtering urine to create a pump flush (helping also to increasing the amount of times the urine tank will have to be emptied A efficent seperation e.g. a spring hinged flap for solids with a hole conecting to a tube for urine Hopefully small enough to fit in a Viking James
  2. For the past year I have been looking at the issues surrounding boat toilets. The best solution found by many is the Composting toilet, however, the cost many people find too much, and some lacking features. Therefore I decieded to try and build my own solution, I was looking for any suggestions you may have. Also I would be interested if you would buy the product for about £300 (compared with Airheads £800 cost) any ideas thoughts please post. James
  3. Hello, I'm looking at buying a new boat unfortunately it has a cassette toilet which I don't want. I would like a Pump toilet to holding tank how much would it cost to have it fitted install + labor (I don't trust myself to do it!). The boat is a viking 26 cc, very similar to a narrow boat. Also do any of you know cheap mooring on the River Wey for a viking 26 cc. James
  4. Yeah, thats what I thought, There arn't as many laws on the river as there are on the road, which used to be fine. However unfortinatly I think the lack of these laws is starting to show up with more and more people abusing the lack of these laws, mainly drink-boating. Once on the wey one "happy" drunk boater went straight though both gates at a lock. He was insured to the brim so he was fine, but that dosn't compensate the hire companies, fellow boat drivers etc. However believing it is not legal I don't think they should be told off for being drunk yet... However my overall opinion is the law should be changed, to a simmerlar one that applys on the roads. James
  5. I think you use about a litre, only use it after you empty it out otherwise it only affects the waste rather tan the tank, or more if it smells ! James
  6. Thanks for that, I did guess there was nowhere to moor when i did web searches, with no results! But it looks like quite a good idea to put a ad in their magasine. Thanks again for the help, James
  7. This is a bit of a genral topic for all, I've always wanted to get into boating and have been on many boating holidays the only think that has stopped me is the extreme price of mooring for example. Thames for 30ft its about £3000, Wey £2300 and have read its about £1300 on the the Basingstoke Canal. Because of this I would like to moor on the Basingstoke canal, I want to buy a viking 26 centre cockpit, but I can't find anywhere to moor it on the basingstoke canal, any recomendations of boat yard or marina's I can moor at (that are under £2000) on any of these rivers or canals. Thanks in advance, James
