  1. You say "only those who live aboard can justifiably claim to be CCers", presumably you mean for the purposes of this Energy Support Grant? Lots of boats will be CCers but not live aboard so can't justifiably claim this grant.
  2. Our boat has a Continuous Cruiser licence, so we continually cruise, but we're not liveaboards. We're a consortium who share the boat. We received the invitation from the CRT to redeem a voucher for the Energy Support Scheme. We're not going to redeem this as it's for liveaboards only so is not for us (although the email doesn't say this). In my mind it would be fraudulent to claim the money. How many CC boats are there that are not liveaboards I wonder, and how many of these are redeeming the vouchers?
  3. Well the canal is indeed open at Cropredy so the map and info on stoppages page is just wrong! As someone suggested, they've combined two separate stoppages onto one big long one. I've contacted CRT about it.
  4. Yes I think that's right. I'll find out tomorrow and will post the answer on here. I'll also contact CRT to ask them to change the map! Many thanks everyone!
  5. We just want to go south from Cropredy. I think there must be a mistake on the map and the closures are just at Claydon lock and Broadmore Lock, but open south of that. I hope so anyway... I'll get in touch with CRT and tell them to revise the map! Yes it matters a lot as we're at Cropredy and if it's all closed then we can't move till Dec 16th!
  6. https://canalrivertrust.org.uk/notices/22236-bridge-147-claydon-broadmoor This is the link to the notice, but I can't believe the whole of this stretch is really closed and wonder if CRT have made a mistake....

  8. Can someone help please? I'm looking at CRT stoppages page and it says the whole stretch from Claydon lock south to beyond Hardwick Lock is closed now from 7th Nov to 16th Dec. Surely this isn't right? Does anyone know please? Many thanks
  9. Does anyone know of a gas engineer who can do LPG gas near Derby? We have a Cal50 cooker which had a blocked burner. We now have a new part but need it fitted. Thanks very much.
  10. Hi, me again Can someone give us some advice about mooring on the River Soar between Trent Lock and Loughborough please? Are there floating pontoons to moor on? Or is there overnight mooring on the banks in places? Thanks!
  11. Hi Nicknorman, Thanks very much for your reply - this is really useful!
  12. What are the canals like in these canals/areas? Nice/horrible/interesting/safe? Any particular bits to avoid / or to visit and spend time in? Firstly the canal between Minworth & Fazeley - Then up to Fradley, right past Burton on Trent towards Nottingham Then right onto River Soar down to Leicester Then back down to Grand Union. I look forward to your thoughts - thanks!
  13. Hi All Many thanks for all the replies. Yes we tried unblocking it straight away, and then the gas guy tried that too. In fact now he says he's able to get a new part for it after all (new control valve? £55) so we'll go for that option, and hopefully that'll get it fixed. But yes, it is frustrating there are so few 50x50cm cookers now. MtB - oops yes, you're quite right - I meant useLESS rather than useFULL oven! Thanks again everyone!
  14. Hi, We're looking for a new LPG ready cooker that's 50cm wide and ideally only 50cm deep. in 2017 we bought the Cal-50 because it was the only one we could find that fitted the space. It was fairly cheap but a really useful oven (burnt things near the bottom, very difficult to cook a roast) and now one of the burners has blocked up and won't work. This wouldn't matter to us as we only need 3 burners, but we fail the Boat Safety Examination because of it. Apparently it can't be fixed as we can't get parts for it - really annoying - DO NOT BUY A CAL-50 cooker! So, does anyone have any suggestions for a decent LPG ready cooker that's 50cm width AND 50cm depth please? Ideally with separate grill and oven, but we'll consider single cavity. In the end we might consider going for the deeper one, it'll just stick out a bit, so recommendations for this would be good too, thank you! (I've read a thread on this subject from 2016: https://canalworld.net/forums/index.php?/topic/83449-cookers/ and this was useful but it's probably rather out of date now) Thanks in advance for your help!
