  1. A boat very similar (identical) to that with a person onboard named very similar (identical) to those mentioned above passed through the Watford flight on Friday 29th Jan at 10:00am under a "special permission" from CRT. The guy told me why he was heading for Leicester and hence why C&RT had approved the passage, which may or may not be true. He had a dog onboard. C&RT has the name of the boat used (not Ruby), the index number used (which may not be this boat but is licensed) and the guys mobile number if the police need access to it. How do I know, i was the VLockie.... INC-20210216-0543 which force has this been issued by?
  2. Ah that makes sense... at first glance it looks as though you are bidding for the one in the photo!
  3. https://narrowboats.apolloduck.co.uk/boat/trumpy-80-for-sale/648585 233 gallons of varnish!
  4. Either the sounder or LED driver circuit would be my starting point.
  5. Did they run out of money before they got to the stern? It looks as though a temporary classroom was crash landed on the deck!
  6. It is definitely genuine and there will be confirmation of that in Friday's boaters update.
  7. So the first question should be "How do you rate the quality of our electronic communications?"
  8. I sent mine to Customer Services and Damian Kemp for comment? it looked phishy to me....
  9. Harkila go up to 14/48. Not cheap but well made.
  10. It looks like the Braunston Flight. You can just see the Mill and the Church in the background. Taken from the bridge at Top Lock.
  11. The Watford Locks ones certainly are, about 1000 boats less in 2020 compared to 2019.
  12. Everything you need is described here https://canalrivertrust.org.uk/business-and-trade/boating-business/application-process-and-fees
  13. You don't mention what you will use it for e.g. holidays, living aboard? If it's the latter then you might want to research whether an ALDE boiler is for you i.e. the costs of gas consumption, servicing, safety checks etc. compared to a diesel boiler for example. It may be possible to retro fit a diesel boiler. There is also some lazy brochure work going on..... Inverter = Yes !!
  14. Have you looked in the "Tug" section on Apollo Duck? There is one on there that fits your description (and has a Gardner). Worth a chat with the broker about the budget gap. You never know your luck ?
  15. I totally agree that all pieces are individual and that's what makes canal art interesting. The one I posted is still being painted and Phil has told me that after 40 years he is still learning and trying new things. He has taught lots of people over the years so there is a good chance that his style will come through in others. Enjoy your can and the research of its history.
  16. I am not familiar with Chris Ramsey but here is a recent example of Phil's work (still in progress) for comparison.
  17. Exactly, which is why I am always pleased to see a side fender. The least worse option.
  18. All of the above + some spare sealing tape to ensure it reseals. A boat hook from the bank is my preferred option these days.
  19. Like I say it was a "just in case" given the amount of hassle in running the wires in retrospectively. I appreciate there is complex science behind this and my application of theory may not be correct but hey-ho .....
  20. I used SY 1.5mm2 specification cable on the basis I might have needed to use the screen to prevent interference issues with the DC wires. As it happened there is no issue but given it took me 4 days to retrofit the cables it was worth it "just in case". SY is a generic cable spec but I use these guys for online electrical stuff https://www.tlc-direct.co.uk/Products/MF1dot5slash3.html
  21. Thanks, I had seen this and found it useful. In recognition of their work I have joined up today. HNBC has also identified a potential issue regarding dredging and are actively engaged with C&RT. (I'm still waiting to hear from their membership team...)
