  1. Best of luck to him! does anyone know who or what charity he is raising money for?
  2. This post cannot be displayed because it is in a forum which requires at least 10 posts to view.
  3. Thats brilliant advice many thanks Alanji!
  4. Best of luck! Very Jealous, its still just a dream for us! lol... One day, she chants...one day!
  5. May not help anyone aboard but if anyone has an allotment Bedfordshire way, Im happy to supply horse manure for fertiliser!
  6. Well I guess that would give us a water boat...as surely we would sink!
  7. Hello all, I'm Corenne, currently looking into buying a boat with the family to become liveaboards, purely looking for a more laid back way of life, being self sufficient and getting away from busy towns! I've been lurking on the forum reading lots and lots of sound advice on all sorts of subjects for a while now, so thought I would come and introduce myself to you lovely bunch!
  8. Thanks all for your responses! I had not even considered the thermostat!! I have just looked up the particular heatmat and it is even a higher wattage than that by the looks of it ''Dream Foil 225W'' I now have images of the entire family being surfed out of the boat by my mothers waterbed!! If I was clever enough to create such a contraption it would be a genius way to sort out the problem! It looks like this is what we shall have to do.. however we didn't have much luck with orthopaedic matresses before the waterbed was installed. The jury is out on that one As I said I am very much a newbie to boats, making the considerations for powering things is something we are still working out before we even think of buying a liveaboard. She had actually had it switched off over the summer months as she found it soothing being on something so cold when the weather has been hot, and over the winter its been on the lowest temperature setting. Maybe I should float her a lilo out the back of whatever boat we end up with, would be much more energy efficient
  9. I dare to be different This was my thinking, hopefully if we can place it in the correct place all will be well lol Its a double, Im sure the company we brought it from said approx 1,500lbs I shall have to do some calculations on how much water is in it I think Luckily it has a outer basin so if it should, god forbid! burst it just goes into the basin, Its the most comfortable thing I have ever laid on!! My mum swears by it for her sciatica, and a previous neck injury, it takes some getting used to but it completely moulds to your spine and body for optimum support. I would love one myself!
  10. Hi all, Firstly I would like to say Hello! complete newbie here to both boats and to the forum, although I have been lurking in the background for a while now reading interesting posts and doing months of research into the way of life living aboard, I can see you are all an incredibly helpful bunch so thought it best to ask my question here! Now my question is regarding matresses which i've done a search on but couldn't find an answer, hence bothering you all with a possibly daft question lol! My mother has a waterbed due to back issues, now we are just wondering whether the fact that it is a very weighty item would that cause a problem on a boat? If the answer to that is dependant on boat size etc, then we are looking at possibly a 60ft widebeam type if that should make a difference... Thanks in advance!
