  1. Thanks Pete. Ideally I would get the boat to a pro to do this. But it's not an option here
  2. Hi folks. My boat was sprayed in 2012 by a car sprayer using 2 pack. Process of corrosion started to panel directly underneath the chimney. Problem won't recur. The obviously damaged area has been grinded out and vactan applied. The damaged area occured to the background black colour and also the cream coloured stripe. I was planning on a DIY car panel style repair. After filling and priming, using aerosols. It's a big patch. Looking at it now, the corrosive process has effected the paint in a larger area but perhaps not penetrated it. I'm thinking of taking the whole end section of the panel back to metal. From roof line to gunnel. I'm not sure now what's best. If it I should investigate conventional boat paints with application by roller and brush and lots of flatting. Or if I should stick to a rattle can method. Perhaps there is a chemical reason with the different paint options to have to treat this like a car repair? I'll sus how to add pics and include in mo. 3. I won't post on here again. Thanks for the advice, love the very economical caravan/motorhome transformer solution What a fool referring to the pumps based on their specific location and purpose as opposed using conventional 'bilge' precursor which could mean anywhere. Perfectly happy with battery management, having run a full size fridge and ya know a whole life from 12v since 2012. Simply had some questions about the introduction of Mains for the first time, immediately following engine failure Suggest it's not Phil's fairies that are the problem but smart ass unpleasent trolls. Get a life fellas, must be other ways to boost that ego
  4. Yep I'm skimping at the moment, looking for low cost solution, hoping to identify the actual product for purchase within next few days. Maybe no batteries would be good for the time being. As opposed have just one now that will deteriorate and be joined by more in the future. I.e all new won't be compensating for 1 older. I'll search for sterling chargers. Thanks for advice Mart
  5. Alan you may not be aware, but the person asking the question remains a part of the conversation. Hope you feel particularly smug and intelligent. Well done you. Hey maybe I even know more about some things than you do. In which case I will try and remember to laugh at your lack of knowledge.
  6. Yep marina, 24/7 Should have mentioned *Also, there is a gulper pump that ejects shower water *Engine bay has a pump to eject water also Ok I'll have a look for a single leisure battery and a 25amp charger. Also, I'm thinking I could bring the battery inside the boat for easier access, but will have to do some re- wiring work Thanks for advice so far
  7. Could 1 battery be enough? I used 3 batteries and an inverter, running a 240v fridge and Tele for years. Now my load from the batts is relatively very small, I was wondering if just 1 battery would do it? I'd need to investigate chargers, have not used one before
  8. Hi guys. My boat is a bit dead, currently in a Marina for the first time. I have mains electricity, what a treat. My 3 leisure batteries have died. My 3 solar panels are still functional. I assume starter battery is dead. The engine for the sake of this conversation is dead too. It may be revived one day. But not in near future. The 12v circuit has to deal with: *1 water pump to pump water heated by the morso to the radiator *1 water pump for shower, and kitchen and bathroom taps. * LED ceiling lights. All other things, fridge, phones, TV etc can come from Mains. So in summary, No engine, functioning solar panels and available mains hook up, but no functioning leisure batteries. What are my options for a an all year round electric supply ? What do I need to buy? How many? What do I need to install? Thanks Mart
  9. Evening all - First Post on here, My name is Mart O'Beirne - Have been living on my boat - 'Prefiguration' - for 4 months, currently moored on towpath at Linslade (nr Leighton Buzzard)on the GUC. My uncle - or grand uncle - was a boatman all his life - know little of him - when he finally retired he couldn't deal with living in a house with a relative - he moved in to the garden shed where he felt more at home. Have found a few snippets on the web - and even mention of him on this forum - he worked on the grand union - and have found ref to two boats he skippered - 'Boote' and 'Barnet' have found images of these boats and even a youtube clip of boote- but have a lot to learn, places and people to visit, things to clarify etc.... So just in case some historians on here may know more - here I am planning to visit Stoke Bruern and some long lost relatives in the nr future too Cheers! Mart
