  1. Good luck with your repairs. Lots of our friends have Dutch steel cruisers now. They all seem very happy with them. 😀
  2. A soak in a bucket of Milton solution will get that out.

  4. We were the opposite with our Webasto air heater. (Ebersplutter equivalent) It was turned on just before we got to the boat Friday evening and in the winter often wasn't turned off again until Monday morning when we left for work. It was only serviced once in 13 years and that's when we had to take it off to replace the fan unit. Other than that it worked like clockwork. Brilliant piece of kit.
  5. What heating system do you have? Our Truma Combi 6E is hooked up to the Truma I Net system. You can remotely monitor battery voltages, van temperature, water temperature and remotely control the heating and hot water.
  6. A friend of ours has an Autotrail motorhome that it equipped with a load of Sargent gear. He has had a bit of a nightmare when trying to upgrade to Victron equipment as various parts of the system now refuse to "talk" to the Victron kit meaning parts of his control panel and systems panel now just don't work. They have yet to find a work around for this despite talking to both Sargent and Victron. We have just installed a new Victron MPPT solar controller and thankfully our CBE kit will happily interact with it. Got a new Victron battery charger to fit as well in the next week or so.
  7. If you don't limit yourself to narrowbeam then there are some great centre cockpit cruisers around. Seamaster 30's offer a lot of accommodation for their size. https://www.newark-marina.co.uk/used-boats/seamaster-30-2/ ETA: Depending on your budget they did do a newer version of the Seamaster, I believe it was Viking that took over the moulds. They have a more modern fit out and are lighter built.
  8. Our stupid hound Sydney decided last night it would be a good idea to pick up and squeeze a toad. It is safe to say he had instant regret He went a bit foamy!! He was fine after a quick mouth rinse and a wash of his face. After half an hour feeling sorry for himself under the kitchen table. (which was probably more due to having an impromptu wash rather than the toad) he happily wolfed down his dinner. Daft lad would be stupid enough to do it again so we are avoiding evening walks by the pond for now!
  9. Hire yards on the Broads have been using lithium batteries on their more up market boats for many years now.

  11. We certainly don't live like cavemen on the van. That manages just fine with a single 100ah lithium battery.

  13. Don't bother with the Dust Devil. It will make a better ornament than it will a vacuum cleaner!
  14. People forget that side of things. During the covid pandemic some good friends of ours divorced and their then 20 year old son moved out and bought his first house. They went from one house to three in the space of a few months.
  15. Vacuuming is a blue job in our household. Liam does a far better and more thorough job of it than I do!
  16. Coil it up and use it as a table mat?
