  1. Read somewhere that herd immunity is not achievable without a vaccine and for the reason you suggest.
  2. Richardsons of Stalham do repairs of all sorts, I know I used to moor there. Trouble is they get busy and will understandably always put the hire fleet first. Another excellent yard is Ludham Bridge, which does not have a significant hire fleet but does have a fine reputation.
  3. What would the bss position be if the spillage fell into front well and then drained overboard. via the scuttles?
  4. And I guess on the back of that insurance is also invalidated?
  5. Lived at Potter for 10 years. Very few boats of any size get under that bridge these days. Much debate over higher river levels in general, a sinking bridge or both. Of course the hire fleets seem to be building bigger and bigger boats. That does not help the average. ?
  6. That does look interesting. Thanks for posting. How does it sit with the Boat Safety stuff and how do you have in installed given the exhaust requirement?
  7. Have come across that before in the finance sector. Move the operation "offshore" knowing that service standards will suffer but also knowing that settling any claims will be more than offset by the cheaper labour.
  8. Interesting for we also moor at Crick, although we have experienced this elsewhere. Maybe a directional aerial is required as backup?
  9. Will give that a try, Richard, thanks.
  10. I really do not get TV ariels but clearly our's is not doing what it should. Have had situations where one day the TV will pick up 40 odd channels and the next day zilch and that is whilst at our home mooring so nothing changes. Have also seen it just pick up a dozen or so channels but none of them are viewable - they keep breaking up. Why is this? Any ideas? And what sort of Ariel is best for digital TV. We currently have a Maxview Omnimax with booster.
  11. The decision to go one way or another is a personal one and has no relationship with the question asked at the start. Matty40s has confirmed my suspicions. Would be helpful if we could stay on topic.
  12. Maybe ? But I have come across others who have the same problem. One installer told me he would not install the product as the company were difficult to communicate with. Move on to Bubble I guess. Failing that is is something like Planer or just stick with the basic multi fuel.
  13. Three messages and two emails thus far. It rather shoots their credibility to pieces.
  14. Does anyone know if Lockgate are actually in business still? I quite fancy the idea of a Refleks stove to replace my multi-fuel but attempts to contact the supplier (Lockgate) fail completely.
  15. MIght bring back the looks but not stop the leaks ? The seals are shot and the windows need a complete refurb. New seems the better option to me.
  16. Thank you. I would prefer it if someone could come to the boat on the basis that time is at a premium here at the moment - but the job has to be done.
  17. I have asked this question in many places but always draw a blank. This is therefore something of a "last chance saloon". Our boat has a couple of leaky windows. They are old and the best approach is without doubt replacement. I and windows do not get on however so I'm trying to source a tradesman who would attend the boat and carry out the replacement for me. We are moored at Crick. Any suggestions? Many thanks
  18. What crt say is good enough for me and the advice from crt is based on the rules/laws as put in place by the Govt. Boats be they residential or otherwise are locked in with homes/second homes and holiday homes. And if you are residential and had a winter mooring for say 5 months and it has run out then you become a boat without a home mooring so the need to return to "base" does not apply as it cannot be applied (also confirmed by crt). They are differentiating between a residential boat with a home mooring , a continuous cruiser without and leisure boats. I do not see the relevance of license conditions as they are probably overridden by the state of emergency. I do not suppose the license covers any aspect of the lockdown restrictions anyway. Still as I said earlier I have asked for further clarification given the speed with which things change but at the end of the day what they tell me will suffice. But then I have always been supportive of lockdown and still am; I am not looking for a way to break out and I most certainly am not creating scenarios to achieve that end.
  19. I know what you are saying and I know what I am saying and I am not going to get into some pointless right/wrong debate with you. I will contact CRT again and explain the question carefully whilst pointing them to their written advice. Maybe they need to make some amendments to the advice or to their clarification I received a couple of days ago. It might even be that things were changing behind the scenes when the advice was prepared. The fact however remains that the clarification I have says one thing and the website does not say anything different, it just appears to be silent. Time will tell no doubt.
  20. I am not so sure that is absolutely true. It can be argued that if you have a residential mooring then that forms part of your home address. One lives on a boat at a specific place, much like living in a house on a street. We shall see.
