CRT have just sent out a stoppage notice saying the pound is empty but they are restoring water levels. I thought this a bit odd as they don't normally issue a stoppage just for an empty pound. I suppose strictly they are restoring the water level but its going to take a while. ?

Looks like we are stuck in Hebden for a while as there is a winter stoppage between Hebden and Tod.

I'm addicted to Cornish pasties from Country Store near The Fustian Knife?

This is only the start of it I predict. In a couple of years they will be spending a seven figure sum trying to increase 'diversity' on the cut.

There is definitely a problem in this department, don't you think?

    Yes.

It was clear that both boats were going for the same mooring.

However the narrowboat was disobeying the colregs .

The cruiser was the stand on vessel . The narrowboat was the give way vessel. Had the cruiser not required the mooring the narrowboat should have passed him port to port, which was obviously not going to happen.

While it seems the narrowboat owner is some sort of journalist he seems to be  novice boater unaware of the rules of the road as defined in the  colregs.

He's had that boat a long time now, really he should know better.

I'm sure that we've all seen a few "howlers" on CRT notices around the system, and here is another, which I found affixed to a balance beam at Denham lock. It makes one wonder just how old are the people who produce these notices, and does no one ever check them before they leave the office? I'm sure some schoolkids could do better than this.

Get your Sharpie out and make any corrections you deem necessary.

Dogs tend to go back to where they last saw you. I hope you get them back, they look lovely.

Not a narrow boat but it is my boat.  1963 Chris Craft Sea Skiff.  Photo is from 20+ year ago when I first got it.  Second one is of it now. In my shop undergoing a total  restoration.

Planning on a narrow boat in a few years when we retire.

    Always sad to see.

Isn't it just. I always feel so sad for the folks hoping to have a pleasant boating holiday for it to end like that. It can all go so horribly wrong very quickly.

Oh that's next to where the fuel yard is

  8. Second vote for The Leeds and Liverpool up around Skipton, its very scenic not too busy, The Bingley Rises are good fun and the children are welcomed to help under the supervision of The Lockies. Silsden Boats, Shire and others do hire round there.

    Have a lovely holiday.

Here's another one, this time in Leeds Dock (or whatever other name it goes under).

There's never anybody about either... Its dull, the only time I've been in there is on foot to see a play on the water. Don't like mooring at Granary Wharf either... Prefer to go Woodlesford or Rodley.
