I built a cot that is mostly over our feet at the foot of the bed. I don't recommend this as it isn't good for your back to reach a baby in and out of a cot whilst kneeling on the bed.
If doing from scratch I'd arrange that we had a cross bed and a 3 sided cot that pushed up against the bed. There isn't enough room in a double for 2 big ones and a little one, though that would be ideal.
Oh and obviously make sure the hooks are well anchored if going the hammock route!
Use a 10 tube collector for a 75l tank. Be aware that it may boil in v hot weather, but this is not a problem as you will have a header tank open just by the panel.
You will need a differential thermometer, a pump and a solenoid valve to stop reverse thermocycling when pump not running.
Look at solarproject.co.uk
Oh and don't replumb just for sensors. The collector will have a pocket, and just carefully remove a square inch or so of insulation from the top of the calorifier and bob it back with the other sensor underneath
There's nowt wrong with blue polyprop, but it helps to tie a proper knot. I've had to rescue one at the top of 5 rise.
There was one moored on the water point near micklethwaite for months. Also on the approach mooring for the airedale boat club swing bridge, which is supposed to be left open but isn't always in the winter (which is fine by me)
I cannot read this in any way that isn't encouraging leisure boating and discouraging living aboard. MTB being an exception.
I'm going to stop giving crt £1400 per year and CC as I basically have to act the same way either way. I don't like being on my mooring, I like to move around, that's why I bought a boat, not a house!
I agree with Mike. The only time I get in a tiz is when I have crew, unless I'm completely confident in them.
Swing bridges in the wind are very tricky. Usually a pedestrian is most happy to have a go with the electric ones!
I've never seen a decent 12v hoover! And those 12v laptop chargers are total shonk.
Reminds me to test my sterling when I reinstall it for a N E bond, and stick one in if it hasn't got one.
By practical experiment, I have found that the L&L at Thorlby swing bridge in particular, is dredged to
*ahem*
just about the same depth as the distance from the bottom of my feet to my belly button.
It is possible that the engine bilge has more than one compartment, and the drain between is partially blocked. This leads to the main bilge filling between emptyings as the other bit slowly drains. That happened in my boat.
May not apply to yours.
Sir Nibble I will post the info when I am next near it and we'll see if it is a 9 diode job. That would be ace if I can switch it in when the engine is warm and on low compression.
It should spin at around 4000rpm I reckon, though I haven't actually measured the pulley.
Ok. So I'll hope it doesn't, and it won't be revving particularly fast anyway. It is a hand start diesel, and I wanted to give it chance to warm up a little before asking it to work full chat.
Thanks all, very useful.
Ps. I could see if it self energises, and if it does I can just not bother with the warning light. Though of course I wouldn't be warned if it packed in.
Ok, so if I have an engine spinning an alternator but I haven't yet switched the warning lamp on to energise it.
Will it self energise?
Will it hurt it?
Cheers
