  1. Quick update, and a thank you to every one who offered help and support.A mate with an Interest in electrickery from school, no electric training what so ever, asked if he could look at the inverter, 2 hours later, he says i can fix this !!! there was indeed a variable resister that was adjusted in line with the hand held volt meter, and the pair calibrated. jobs a good un. works perfect.the boy is wasting his talents !!! Tim pm sent, cheers
  2. it had this exact problem before i acquired it,my battery bank is 100% 27volts. but the led on the inverter says 32. it does need tweeking, but by who ? cheers for the input.
  3. Hi folks, after some one, whose need was obviously greater than mine , And helped them self's to my pr combi last week, I have acquired the above inverter to get me out the brown stuff. Made by Rich electric, but baged as a invertek 2500 low frequency pure sine inverter. the problem is,as follows, the led on it says my battery bank is at 32 volts !! so the over voltage trip is kicking shutting it off, the battery bank is showing 27 volts, it had this problem prior to me getting it, any ideas, soon as the engine is started is also shows over voltage trip, check the alt output 27 volts, the bumpf says it can cope with 32 volts before tripping. what do i do please please, any recommendations for repairs derby shire please, it was supplied by stirling power, called them and emialed them no reply, i need help. cheers
  4. They unbolted the inverter very neatly, and what a fool yes I know third party insurance only
  5. My mooring is just on the cut , just before the lock keepers cottage and the auto mated lock, I can not begin to tell you how I feel
  6. Last night my boat was broken in to in Sawley cut. Stirling 24 volt pure sine wave inverter , jcb chain saw, 32 inch TV stolen, I am complety gutted, waiting for the police to come now. I am heart broken
  7. Hi Justme, The VOC is 21.5 volts per panel.http://www.bimblesolar.com/solar/kyocera120w
  8. Could any one with some knowledge of MPPT Controllers please recommend a controller that would show the amount of Amps that are being delivered to the battery bank please, My solar panels will be 120 watt, three of them wired in series, my battery bank comprises of 8 trojan T105s wired in series/parallel to give an out put of 24 volts, so at 24 volts the capacity of the combined battery bank will be 450 amps. thank you very much !
  9. Hello friends, i am after some phone numbers contacts in the sawley ish area to come and measure up and make me some oak fitted cupboards in the saloon for storage, every one i try is too busy! but i am looking for a top class job, i.e no nails, cos i could do that ! Thank you very much, Michael

  11. thank you all for your reply's, i just had sum concerns that the morco may not like a thermostatic mixer. thank you again.
  12. Hi friends, work has started on the shower room, so the question is this please, am i best fitting a thermostatic shower mixer or the old style manual shower mixer with a morco gas boiler feeding the hot water ? thank you, Michael.
  13. I spoke to mr Stirling in the week about this,This was his suggestion also and said it may work. i tried it with both jennys and still the same effect !!!
  14. That is a cracking plan By ,eck. I am on a tow path mooring with no hook up,so are you suggesting sort of forget the shore power feed to the pro combi, and just use the genny to feed a stand alone batt charger connected to the main battery bank, any suggestions for a stand alone 24 v battery charger please, oh would these clever 4 stage batt chargers run on an old stlye genny ? thank you once again friend. Michael.
  15. Well , you have confirmed my worst suspicions thank you very much, more expense !what you say makes perfect sense, I do wonder what effect the old style genny has on the inverter when it goes through it battery charging regime ? Again thank you very much. I have given you both greenies for your help !!
  16. Hello every body, not posted for a while because i have been cracking on quite well with the project, un till this last week or so.Here is the set up.3 kw petrol genny,( old style) which feeds my 2100 watt continuous( 6000 watt peak ) sterling pro combi pure sine wave inverter which is 24 volt.I also have a 140 amp alternator (24 Volt) driven of my engine which of course charges the main battery bank which is of course connected to the inverter. Right here is the problem, my Zanussi zwc 1301 auto washing machine will not work when the genny is running it just starts miss behaving does not like it at all, it will run no problem from just inverter, or when main engine is running, but i fitted the genny so as not to have to run the main engine, now i have tried 2 separate gennys same result, the inverter is pure sine wave, so why does the washing machine not like the old stlye gennys ? i would of thought the inverter would of sorted all this out ? the gennys will run the tv and micro wave no probs, please do not say i need a pure sine inverter genny. sorry for such a long post !! so come any clues please, cheers Michael.
  17. Hi hope this is not classed as highjacking the thread but, my led tv (240 volt)connected to a "normal areil"gets all the free view channels about 100, (mainly crap ) but when I switch on my led lighting I loose most of the channels even though I used shrouded areil cable and furthermore got a slight tingle from the ariel when adjusting it in the rain with the tv on , any ideas whats happening please ?
  18. Thank you all for the helpfull comments and advice,It is in deed the DV36 engine. I will be at the boat at week end for another look, my friend did add some injector cleaner in to the fuel tank before I got there, I would of personaly put it directly in to the fuel filter housing directly. The engine is whisper quite and so silky smooth, with no starting or running issues, just so dame smoky, I guess it could be a diesel film on the water and not oil, so perhaps fuel pump timing or just a failty injector perhaps ? Thank you all once agin for your help.
  19. Thank you for the replys, the oil/smoke problem has been there for a while, was slightly better after oil/filter change, correct grade and amout put in ! The engine I must admit has been mainly used just for charging for about 12 months ! It had a decent run out last week but still has the problems menthioned . Thank you again.
  20. Hi folks, A really good friend has a Bukh diesel fitted in his Narrowboat, It has a wet exhaust system fitted, done about 1500 hours. The problem is as follows, very smoky exhaust and traces of oil coming out of the exhaust which can be seen in the exhaust water. Filters and oil have been changed, I suspect either a head gasket problem or more likely worn bores / rings. Would I be correct ? do not really want to go pulling the head off if I can get away with out doing so. Thank you for any advice.
  21. Thank you for the reply, Well I have a 24volt battery bank with a total of 440 amp hour. I am looking at putting three solar panels 170watt each,I have been looking at everal controllers the Outback FM 60 one of them. But do I need or are they worth the extra cost. Thank you once again.
  22. Hi folks, I have arrived at the desion that solar is the way to go, even if I do not like the look of them on boats, But I guess life is a comprmise. Now looking at controllers I can see that there is a vast difference in price of controllers, the Out back one of the most expensive, In lay mans terms can some one please explain to me if I would be wasting my money buying one of these against one of the cheaper chineese models. thank you all
  23. Whether this will appeal to you or not I do not know but here is my suggestion/ At present I am working for a shot peening company, All the waste shot (cast iron) is avaialble to me. I have been filling 4.5 litre plastic oil containers with this shot, they weigh 31kg when full. take up very little room will not rust and are in plastic oil containers and sealed. collection only I have approx 21 tonnes allready in 4.5ltr plastic oil drums. bid me. Or I could supply 205ltr steel oil drums full of shot pprox 1.5 tonnes. and you sort the 4.5 oil cans.
  24. Sorry perhaps you missed it in the title "Around Sawley "
