  1. Interesting prop/rudder arrangement - does it rotate enough to give a stern thruster type push?
  2. Restrict your boat search to those with a minimum 6’ well deck - plenty of room to store and secure a bike. And easy to get it on and off the boat
  3. I only glanced at the documents (which were written in legal gobldy gook) but it seems the plans were approved but then subsequently, on the same day, revoked then approved again. So I’m still not sure what the result was. Good job I’m not interested in buying it!
  4. And plenty of space to put up a 6’ fence so the plebs on the water can’t be seen from the sun deck....... might need some fans to get rid of the stinky diesels.
  5. Neither does a Chinese takeaway (other ethnic meals are available)
  6. I use one of these - very effective
  7. Thanks for the responses - think I might be trying ecoal. For those that already use it, have a look at 'Homefire' web site, 10kg for £7.88 delivered providing you spend a minimum of £75 which is only 10 bags - that seems a really competitive price.
  8. Does anybody have any suggestions for coal in 10kg bags? Also, anybody tried Homefire Ecoal, Homefire Smokeless or Brazier? Only asking about these three as I have found a source that will deliver and they are at reasonable prices. 20kg and 25kg are getting a bit heavy to lump about! Normally I prefer either Phurnicite or Taybrite but as said, getting a bit heavy these days.
  9. ^^^^^^ exactly my experience as well - only hospitalised for just under a week (gallons of antibiotics pumped in did the job) but told to expect a 2 to 3 month recovery period before feeling “normal” again, whatever that is!
  10. If that’s the one in New Bradwell bear in mind it is only about 25 feet long!
  11. Owned by Pete Sullivan who owns the house behind it. Drop a note through his door. (Also very short - the dry dock, not Pete)
  12. How did you fix it the first time? Are you in a marina?
  13. This post cannot be displayed because it is in a forum which requires at least 10 posts to view.
  14. It’s amazing (and scary) how much weight a small chain like that can carry
  15. Also, I suppose if they are big you wouldn't get away with nicking their hammer
  16. Why does the size of the cabinet maker matter?
  17. I’m surprised you can’t use a big adjustable spanner and just keep tightening till it breaks.
  18. It is easy to operate - been through it many times with zero problems.
  19. Many, many years ago my wife and I, together with her sister, sisters husband and 3 kids, went off to France on holiday. We took my motorcycle and our family car, and the adults took it in turns to ride with me. My sister in law loved riding the bike (got her away from the kids!) and once whilst on the back screamed in my ear that a wasp had gone down her neck. I pulled onto a handy side road and stopped, and a minute or so later the car came round to see what was up. All occupants of the car were amazed to see her ripping her clothes off! Naturally I closed my eyes as would anybody. Well, one eye.
  20. Is that the one just after (or just before depending on your direction) the fairly tight bridge with little visibility even without the tree? If so, good.
  21. But there must be a massive amount of regular maintenance that would justify the sort of investment that you describe.
  22. C&RT have responsibility for many hundreds of miles of canals, and there are many trees alongside those canals. And they don't employ anyone capable of removing a large tree? Do they also hire contractors to wipe their arsxs?
  23. That almost sounds like dried sunflowers beaten by 30 seconds!
  24. Braunston, one of the annual working boat shindigs
