  1. When do you go Dean? I'm looking after about a qtr of an acre in S.Manchester for a community growing project We'll sort you out with some bits before you leave if you like!? If I was you I'd grow loads of salad stuffs as they're pricey, but then I'm tight You could go for a courgette plant, that green container that had my tiles in for a bit would be big enough, you just need to feed them LOTS. Some of the F1 hybrids are little plants rather than the big sprawlers so would be more suited - try 'Early Gem' or I've some seeds you can nab a couple of that shouldn't want to grow too massive. Then loads of lettuce that you can pick the outer leaves on over a period of weeks rather than cutting the whole plant. 'Freckles' and 'rosemoor' are good for this as the don't heart up that quick. Rocket and spinach are super easy as well and will just keep on producing for you. Toms are tricky outside round here... not enough sunshine! It's dead easy honest, if you can manage electrics when they make my head spin around then you can def do this
  2. Guessing it's not fixable then! Thanks for your help Gareth
  3. It was mounted on the wall...hoses at the top. Just found a pdf of the instruction manual and it appears that it was installed upside down (not by us I hasten to add!) *holds head in hands*
  4. Hello, Our shower pump suddenly stopped working. It's a (not very old) Whale Gulper 220. There's no problem with the electricity supply to the pump, so next I looked for blockages but it's all clear. However, when I took it apart to see if anything was blocking it I noticed a little water dripping out of the wires...not good. I unscrewed the bottom part where the two wires are attached and LOADS of water came out...not good at all. So it appears that water has gotten into the motor (this bit is sealed so I can't investigate any further) Any ideas on what to do next? Is this fixable? And what could have caused it? If we have to resort to buying a new pump we don't want the same thing to happen again. Thanks
  5. Back from blacking at Hesford and so glad we ended up there. Great people, very helpful, nothing too much trouble and loads of great advice. STUBAG did and excellent job of cutting and welding in a patch to cover the hole in our roof left when we moved our stove. So good in fact that you can barely tell it was ever there. Very reasonable prices and lovely people as well. We'll be back there when we next need to get the boat out of the water and will be sending everyone else we know their way. Thanks again and see you soon!
  6. If you're in Halifax then Dirty Dicks is well worth a beer, nice pub and always loads of interesting stuff on guest. Bit of an unfortunate name I reckon as it makes it sound like a theme pub which it most certainly is not.
  7. Pretty jealous of that one, should be ace fun and you get to do the ship canal. We're keeping your mooring nice and tidy for you, ahem. Let me know when you've an idea of when you'll be back and we'll stow your stove away for you somewhere as we'll disappear to Lymm soon.
  8. Found them Dean. They are called inner flue trims and as soon as you know that there's loads on the web!
  9. STUBAG you legend, that would be brilliant! Thanks. Its cosy under the tarp and its stopping the leaks for now so yes that sounds a way better solution than me hacking away at it on my day off tomorrow. Ill do some of the other 2 billion jobs instead! :-)
  10. It's definitely not condensation. No condensation on any other windows yet really. Double glazed units sound good but they also sound expensive. Any pointers as to where I might look to purchase? Ill probably just seal for now but you're right if Im pulling everything out it could be the ideal opportunity I guess.
  11. Ok great. I had a quick look this am and it does look like its set in a putty. Its dry and you can pick bits out with your fingernails it so cracked. Ill start by drying it all out by slinging a tarp over the bow this eve and see what it looks like once Ive picked the putty out. Thanks for your help!
  12. Ah that sounds more complicated than I thought. Not sure how I would even get the glass out of the wooden door frame! I will take a look at Stixall though. Anyone ever taken the glass out of their doors?
  13. We've been getting an ever increasing damp patch under our bow doors for the last week and water seems to be getting around the glass. Whats the best way to go about resealing this? Should I just squeeze some clear exterior sealant around them or is there something better I can use? Thanks!
  14. We're thinking one of those and gaffer taped on gloves. We will, of course, take photos of this stylish occasion
  15. We're now booked in to diy the second week in October thanks to the lovely STUBAG. We'll work on our painting muscles till then. Weirdly quite excited to see the bottom of our boat for the first time!
