  1. I’m trying to work out where the ‘Land of Pies’ and cheese is? Id have thought somewhere North, but this malarkey Is down Southish somewhere, either way I don’t know what yard their on about, is it Wilton Marina? it’s by the M1 and I think that’s where the fat boats hang out?
  2. you missed my clue, about how I’d like to ‘Anchor’ a model boat on the aqueduct, (and I’d expect you to Fly along this canal!)
  3. boats don’t forget. they’ll give him a multiple 15k bill, another random sky in the air figure plucked by someone to create a fuss and a flap, who most likely can’t even be arsed to go boating.
  4. spectators are very important, we learn a lot, and getting to a truth about something matters,
  5. I gave a greenie, more to congratulate myself for there was something I finally understood! I like to read and persevere with electricity threads even if I quickly get lost with what your on about, (but really of course I’m rooting for Dmr to get his set up working proper 👍)
  6. as long as they get a nice bar 😃 swings in roundabouts, maybe, there’s always going to be the extra bits, bobs and add ons to improvements and developments, winners and losers, there are some boating clubs that seem to have done ok outta the HS2,
  7. whats coming across the aqueduct is water from a small brook which I’ve forgotten the name of and can’t find again, it’s obviously a feeder to the canal, but where the water from the canal is spilling over to I don’t know but I think it goes into another brook 🤷‍♀️ Hockley Port??
  8. No it don’t fit Typhoo, I thought for a moment perhaps by Camp Hill, but naah, cant possibly be, First thoughts were Savage Turn in front of the Mail Box there, but no. So to the maps for me to see where the metro’s going.
  9. Having said this, I think my kitchen sink surround is made from weetabix with a plastic veneer. Long over due replacing, but once you start replacing one thing you’ve suddenly a total refit going on, so I’ll make do for another year, ..and then another
  10. For a bit of fun I’d love to ‘Anchor’ a model boat in it, give it another sense of scale.
  11. I’m wondering if this is somewhere down at Digbeth? I’m sure the metro will run very close by. But can’t make it fit. I was thinking Bradley Arm for the previous photo but couldn’t make that fit either. meantime for fun, where’s this and is it the smallest aqueduct?
  12. Right a (very) quick and skimming google reveals initial costs were estimated at 15 or 16 million. narrowboat world reported this time last year the costs were going to be 37 million, and I think in the initial few days there was maybe 2millionish raised by the local council and businesses. and initially there were arguments who were going to pay for the Chinook helicopters.
  13. I wonder how much living aboard matters? I always think I’m keeping the boat aired and warm, the fire’s lit not just for me but the boat. But I wonder if the boat were left for weeks or months without a visit would the damp get in? and would that cheap crap turn to mush? and then that window that’s been unchecked for a couple of months and has begun to let in water while the owners are away ..
  14. absolutely not, but CRT must have had some extra funding from somewhere to deal with it? I lost touch with the figures a long time ago but without funding from elsewhere I don’t know how CRT could afford to fix it? if they can blag the extra cash when there are breaches in the canal surely they’ve found a hand out from somewhere to help with Todbrook?

  17. Who has been paying for Todbrook? I assumed CRT’d have been able to grab some funding from somewhere for that. And do you remember Boris pledging to ‘make it right whatever the cost’ (or something similar).
  18. Why close them? Sell them off. selling the Regents Canal to the developers would raise a few quid
  19. Hebden Bridge, just remembered, slowest of the slowest taps, or was, maybe they’ve improved it, someone with a weak bladder could pee faster,
  20. Just jealous of the space you have on board, why anyone would choose to live on a 7ft wide boat escapes me 🤷‍♀️ as for safety, trip hazards etc, probably best for anyone new to boating to adopt a routine which practises good habit, after awhile it happens without thinking, being a tight git I’m looking around to see if there’s anything of good quality that’s cheaper than the well known (possibly over charging) brands, I’ve come across ‘Patatine’ paints, anyone used them? they look to be the genuine thing, I need to check the colour codes properly and may well email them but at £20 for a litre free delivery off ebay it may be worth a go
  21. Very definitely is, I forgot to point this out to a friend visiting 🤣
  22. Just realised it might look to the OP as if I’d simply pulled his name off the internet, Perhaps I should have have said I’ve used him too, He really would be the perfect solution IF he’s planning on going down the Coventry Canal,
  23. yeah the off white I had/have is creamy, which I’m in two minds about. I keep passing Park Gate and after your earlier recommendation and I keep meaning to go in but still haven’t.
  24. As it happens I need to buy some red paint over the next few days so I can spruce things up before Easter. I’ll may just have to settle for what I can get if I can’t order in time. I’m sure the last pot of paint I had was Johnstone’s post Office Red. What would you recommend for an ‘off’ white? I had Johnstone’s ‘Antique’ white last time. Now I have no car, I can’t easily pop off to Johnstone’s like I used to. I’ll be changing over to what’s commonly available from yards and wharfs. I see Toplac about a lot, is that any good?
  25. good toast is one thing I do miss, and when I visit folk on land with a toaster I make up for it, my grill’s not too good for toast so when I’ve a hanker for toast I do it in an iron skillet
