  1. Thing with super duper systems is they tend to fail on a regular basis, look at the Anderton Lift as an example, and when they fail the specialists have to be called in at great expense, and the super duper system always needs an upgrade, perhaps a bell on either end of a 3 mile piece of string would be fine,
  2. Perhaps some of the 2% could go towards recommissioning the pill boxes, CRT have an opportunity here to apply for funding and lease out back to the M.O.D. we’ve had this one on another thread, bonus point if you remember where it is?
  3. did you go for a pint? If you did how is the pub under new management?
  4. It’s nothing compared to what keeps getting chucked at that there Anderton Lift ..just don’t mention Blue Signs

  6. Yes, I very much agree, and all us tiny fish can make a big collective impact. But I bet there’s a local plane just took off for Spain that’ll burn more fuel (and at some sort of a tax free price to encourage airlines) than collectively as boaters we’ll burn in 🤷‍♀️a day.
  7. I find the idea of cutting down rain forests to feed our machines most disturbing. Me swopping to a biofuel will make not one jot of difference in the grand scheme of things. Neither would 35,000 boaters.
  8. which is pretty good when your footprint is minimal to start with, if only big businesses or big households and big whatevers would halve their footprint. I haven’t driven for 18 months now, that’s my little contribution 👍
  9. Here’s a neat solution, at Ware, I wonder if it’s ever been tried and tested?

  12. Don’t a bow fender need a bit of knocking in to place? Doing a few locks will help put a bit of a groove in the back of the fender so it sits and remains central, and then adjust the links accordingly,
  13. not being an Eagles fan, I didn’t realise the significance of what you said, Johnny Walker mentioned it this afternoon on Sounds of the 70’s. 👍
  14. I used to go Birmingham Odeon when the tickets were £3.50. Don’t think I ever did go Bingley Hall.
  15. Now if you were going to see a pop concert at the Arena in Brum you could almost guarantee a mooring on the doorstep. Good luck anyway 👍
  16. because of level crossings? It’s hard to tell, is the bloke with his back to us holding a long pole of some sort that’s painted white at either end ? stopping traffic to allow the engine across. Were there several places along here where traffic had to be stopped to allow goods or whatever to pass between factories /foundaries? If you hadn’t said Level Street I would never have connected Brierley Hill. 😢 Eta: looking again it’s a pole with white flags. I think?
  17. now I don’t mind fisherists so much on a lock landing IF they know what’s what, the odd few I’ve encountered have accepted they’re in the wrong place and lift their rods and shuffle back, I’d rather fisherists on a lock landing to other boats, tourists dangling their feet or the deckchair folk …the thought of a vegan chocolate bar is quite a shocking, how’s that work? the Flapper had a beer on the other week advertised as vegan, no fish bladders in the making I guess, which isn’t that unusual, 🤷‍♀️

  19. 😂🤣😂 yes, ..and it can be just as intimidating as drunks on a lock landing
  20. we’ve travelled together many times and with a 70+ footer like yours you’ve always managed somewhere. sometimes I get the small space and you moor to the outside 😃 get yourself south and test moorings to the limits !
  21. Was just a thought, why not extract more money from the majority rather than the minority. it’s be more fruitful. 🤷‍♀️
