  1. Anyone know which engines were used by the British craft?
  2. On moving boats, I cannot believe that stratification of the electrolyte will cause any problems, as it does not in cars that are regularly used. It could be a problem on boats that sit at their moorings week after week and rarely move. Not, a great one and then only with wet acid batteries. Because of the low viscosity of the electrolyte giving a boat a few hours out on the water and the vibrations and bumping around will normally remix the electrolyte doing away with the need to damage the battery by over-gassing. Hmm....big difference between a car and a canal boat. ? My boat doesn't get " bumped around" nor does it vibrate!?
  3. It's a 50mm Johnson MC97 " longer life" impeller and it pumps 60% antifreeze so it's not pumping raw water.Seems more logical to me to change after X hours rather than annually, but I'm open to persuasion. I've contacted Johnson pumps for their advice.
  4. Phew! talk about complicated!! I just thought the agitation caused by bubbling, would help mix the electrolyte, if the heavier acid had settled at the bottom half of the cells.
  5. Is there any merit in applying an equalising charge before 100% SoC is reached? Say 80% for example.
  6. Yes it does thanks. I'll put up with it for a while then treat myself to a new Samsung like my friend has.......super picture by comparison and a very thin frame around the screen.
  7. And the buzzing comes from the speakers even on " mute" It's a slab but only 3.5" thick.
  8. The speakers and 240v via inverter. It's aTevion (Aldi) 32" flat screen and around 10 years old, so would that make it a CRT, whatever that stands for?
  9. 4 X 180Ah batteries, 160 A alternator, 2 Kw inverter The cabling to the charger and inverter will remain the same, it's just the cabling between the batteries that will be new.
  10. The cables on my batteries are like welding cables! I'm re-configuring to a different layout with new batteries. Does the new cabling need to be so big?
  11. When the picture changes to a bright scene the TV starts to buzz. Anyone know why?
  12. But why not use this version, which appears to be the original type? eBay item number 261530991059 (10 minutes later) Think I know the answer now. One's £275 the other's £50! So would the Transit version be OK for a 4LW? Must be worth getting one as a spare.
  13. I remember, some time ago, someone (Laurie Booth?) said B & Q paint was good for painting the hull below the water line. I wonder if it's still doing its job. Also I wonder if their Quick drying exterior gloss paint is the one mentioned. It's the only B & Q paint I can find.
  14. Does anyone know if the Tracer MPPT 40A charge controllers have an equalising function? If so, is it automatic or does it need programming or setting up/starting manually? Oops! Just downloaded manual and page 10 says it automatically does a 120 minute equalisation if the charger detects the battery being over discharged. ( only 14.8v for flooded 12v batteries though. But manual implies this can be user adjusted between 9 - 17v!) http://www.pvsolarchina.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/07/TRACER-BN-manual.pdf
  15. Thanks , I've changed my eBay password too.
  16. Thanks for that suggestion. Used a laptop, managed to change my password, got the 170 (!!!) emails that had accrued, went back onto my iPad, entered the new password and....Bingo! back in business!!?Cheers?
  17. I have a Mastervolt MICC which tells me battery charge percentage, amp hours remaining etc. What extra info does a Smartguage provide? In layman' terms if that's possible!
  18. Drained of antifreeze at the moment. Suppose that's even better than having antifreeze in the waterways. Or is it???
  19. I'm trying to do that BUT I need to have access to the BT account............which I can't open??
