  1. Embankment Nottingham-though that's not city centre. Birmingham definitely a good one. Loughborough too. Towns may not suit everyone but we like variety, quiet country spot sometimes and other times we enjoy something more lively.
  2. That one looks a great house again but no mention I could see of length of mooring. And not sure anyone who wants to boat would want an acre of land-i prefer the countryside I don't have to garden.
  3. House looks pretty amazing and in a good position handy for the town and railway stations. The length of the mooring makes it of less interest I guess. Probably already said but I think there's a website for houses with moorings.
  4. Thanks to Richard for organising last night's banter. Good fun and the pub did a great job for us. Enjoy the post banter fun today.
  5. I guess that's the one, there's a few boats always moored there.
  6. We moor on the CRT moorings on the Beeston cut. There are facilities though they are often out of use. It's a handy 15 minutes walk to the station. However, you'd be very lucky to get a 69 foot mooring, they're usually shorter. We moored at crts bishop's meadow for a while but it's very noisy at the town end as its opposite a bus garage with maintenance and buses manoeuvring all night. There's water there but nothing else. There's visitor moorings all along the roadside at beeston. Also visitor moorings at Sainsbury's, very handy for the town centre though can be noisy, or outside castle marina where the marina used to charge £5 a night, don't know what the arrangement is now but don't think able to use their facilities for that. It usually seems to be full there. There's also visitor moorings on the embankment in Nottingham, an easy bus journey into town. Recently, on Facebook, someone advertised a mooring on the Trent by ladybay bridge, I don't have details but might be worth an ask.
  7. Bit late but hope you had a great day Kathy
  8. This rain's getting boring, rained most of night and still raining. Again.
  9. All the best for retirement (or not) & at least you'll be able to boat for a while if you escape sawley. Surely alrewas will stay open now? Though agree, fields everywhere are like lakes and won't take a lot to get Trent back up if it goes down, it's only a very slow fall at the moment.
  10. I think a good decision. I've never known the Trent so bad at this time of year. There are boaters waiting for the Trent to reopen everywhere. Many made use of the few hours it opened earlier this week only to experience very hairy trips and now being stranded further on. I presume you've left the pub on the south oxford or are you taking the, 'summer' out?
  11. Make that 15 hours and counting. Anyone planning to use the soar or Trent had better move asap- they'll be closing again.
  12. Sad to see Now been raining for over 6 hours. Not going to help rivers go down further. Everywhere's so wet, Trent could well rise again.
  13. Yes. Just seen CRT have opened cranfleet. A very tall tree has also disappeared from Beeston lock mouth.
  14. We didn't move as heard still 2 inches in red at Derwent mouth and Beeston lock still had loads debris. A boat came through beeston lock this morning but may have only come from the Trent itself.
  15. Anyone know if cranfleet are off yet? Hoping to go this afternoon.
  16. Brilliant way to describe the fascinating murmerartion phenomenon. We watched the rooks coming in to roost at Attenborough on the Trent a few nights ago then had a great view of starlings murmerating, spell binding. Went to listen for tawneys where we had heard them previously but no joy.
  17. Wonderful pictures. Love barn owls. We saw a short eared owl at Trent junction this time last year. Not been this year to check.
  18. Thankyou. I'm just so pleased boaters bought it and are making such a go of it. Isn't it a 14 day mooring above sileby lock anyway? Even if not, I thought all moorings were 14:days in winter?
  19. Honestly, it's unbelievable. What about a note from CRT asking if they're ok? Ok, that would be silly but seems a ridiculous waste of resources telling them to move on. Thanks for the update on the islanders. We were hugely impressed by the work they'd done and were hoping it wasn't all ruined.
  20. Levels falling. Nearly down to flood level at shardlow.
