  6. I found the reference to the diesel, it is an RJ2. The link to the information is http://www.sterling.rmplc.co.uk/visions/lifeboats.html. Tis one of them, but still would like manual or instructions for servicing if available. Thank you all for your help. next i will be tracing some air cooled diesels I own ....one a Hoch, and another a chinese both electric start.
  7. The pics from mike the boilerman are nearly identical.... i will post mine soon! What i am looking for is some kind of service manual, or stuff that the lifeboat operator would have been given! Someone in UK has the documents......Thornycroft has changed hands and no reply...
  8. Yes, will try to post! the 4" bore and 6" stroke, is correct, The only id on the motor is a cast "thornycroft" on the base. Will post pics asap,
  9. I have one of these from a HMS Queen Mary (I not II) lifeboat. Anyone know of any schematics or technical details? I got it running a few years ago, but want more info if available. We sleeved the cylindars, got good compression and cleaned the injectors to get it operating, but now I want to recondition to orignial condition. It has been sitting for over 10 years since I ran it! It is water cooled and has a bilge pump, fuel filter wipers, as well as a reduction gear built in. Could not find a serial number, or model number on the engine. Weighs about 800 lbs.
