  1. We rescued a squirrel that fell in the cut at darlow lock a couple of years ago. It got itself to the side of the lock and we dangled the centre line down to it. It grabbed the robe, charged up it, stopped at the top to nod it's thanks then ran off into the lock cottages garden.
  2. We were advised over 6 years ago when on a hire boat not to moor there by a 12 year old smoker as "boats get burned 'ere mister." So we moved on nearer the lock.

  4. The hospital up Winnington Hill is minor injuries only. I would suspect half the sirens are from the cops chasing the Astra nuts who tend to zoom round town some days. Junior is right though I think if you away from the twin bridges its quieter.
  5. The T&M comes up from Middlewich and through rudheath which is an area of northwich. Try round Broken Cross where there should be access to buses leaving northwich on middlewich rd for crewe. There appear to be some moorings just past wincham wharf which is close to the a559 Manchester rd but I think the buses will be going the wrong way for you there.
  6. I have only ever been shouted at and told off by boat owners. Even after 3 years there are some hirer's that have more experience than me. Yes people make mistakes and get in a mess but who on here can say that's never happened to them. Day boaters with pirate hats on is a totally different matter.
  7. How recently did you purchase it, because a lot of the DAB stations have changed channels recently? However the old channels are not meant to turn off till Monday I thought. Try getdigitalradio.com for some guidance as some radios have to do a full reset.

  11. We've done it twice now and find from Mercia it's better clockwise as it gets the broad and heavy locks on the soar out the way early. Although we do love the river sections. Another vote for Harbourgh and welford arms. Totally different but each charming in their own way.
  12. We've had a JBL flip for a couple of years. It works really well and charges via usb. Sound quality is enough to make people stop and listen if I'm listening to the cricket.

  20. Why I hadnt bought one years before..... Seriously that I wish I knew how to reverse. Took me a long time to sort that out and still get it wrong.

  22. Don't know about the rest of you but I have found them very useful with all the steel lips and stone edges that seem to connect with my foot. The number of dint and scratches on the current pair seems to prove there worth. And on the one occasion I have fallen in the grip on the sole was very useful to help me climb out.
  23. Picked up some light weight steel toecap safety shoes yesterday for £20 from Aldi. Look more like trainers and defiantly not as heavy as the safety shoes I have on the boat at the moment.
