  1. good cos I'm not sending them anything.. I just checked to make sure the correct issue date and expiry date for the BSS is printed on the form and I'm leaving it at that.. Someone in a CRT office somewhere knows that our boat has a recently issued BSS cert, I did however, phone them to tell them that they had our mooring location wrong, only to be told we can't deal with that over the phone, has to be in writing! a quick email sufficed.
  2. How awful, doesn't bear thinking about, poor girl....our thoughts go out to her family ...
  3. My husband's wedding ring is in the T&M! Obviously the seasearcher no use on gold...had a contraption made out of a pint beer pot gaffer taped to the boat hook, but no luck :-(
  4. we've moored just after Anderson boats when going that way, just before road bridge, and not on the water point. cut through to the road and Tesco Express just across road, and the big Tesco not far away from there. We usually drag our shopping trolley across as it's quite close.
  5. we did it a few years ago, the fishermen were there then, and not very happy as I recall when we went past. looked like we d run out of river and were cruising into a ditch, but then the flash opened out in front of us...lovely sight...we turned our 58ft around in the middle opposite the moored boats, and then went merrily on our way, back onto the river and upsetting the fishermen, again....
  6. Great pics..you obviously like Hull, are you coming back next weekend for the Freedom Festival?
  7. must be getting mixed up with Saltersford then. it is a while since we went that way.
  8. I seem to think that Barnton now has an allotted time to go through too
  9. good idea...we take the back cushions off and then use the sofa as an extra bed for visiting (small) grandchildren..
  10. Sounds like a perfect day to me.. we usually just say 'it's 5 o'clock somewhere', and then pour the G&T!
  11. We bought a Nabru 2 seat sofa for the boat..it's brilliant. I managed to assemble it myself, and it is soooo comfy...only one problem, it affects my eyes...whenever I get curled up on sofa, my eyes shut!
  12. Thanks for that Pete & Helen, as we live in a village at the moment we do email the surgery and ask for the script to be ready at the local pharmacy...we may have to sign up with Boots tho, as they're nationwide.
  13. Hi folks Our dream is getting closer to reality, and we hope to liveaboard and cruise next year. We both have repeat prescriptions with the the surgery at the mo, but wondering....how do you go about getting your repeats if you're out n about on the cut? With modern technology it must be possible to email a pharmacy or something?? Any info appreciated Thanks
  14. enjoyed your video, brings back memories of our trip up there last year..
  15. We call Wrenbury 'dog tish alley'...it's everywhere..mooring there on Saturday afternoon, picked up the front rope to tie up and it was resting on a big 'pile'!! yuk! disgusting!
  16. we also got stuck in the bottom lock and had to be pulled out.....twice...turns out 6'10" is a nominal width used by boatbuilders and ours 'bowed out' in the middle and was 7'1" at her widest! long (and often repeated) story, but we insisted our builder (famous North West boatbuilder, now no more) built us another, as we purchased with the intention of cruising the whole system and if we couldn't get up the Llangollen then we couldn't do that.
  17. What brilliant photos. Thanks for sharing
  18. I have seen this boat advertised recently, but I think it's on Swanley Bridge Marina brokerage website, so it is genuine. we have a Liverpool boat, and after a few 'teething' troubles it's fine..We love it
  19. Just go over the aqueduct, to say you've done it, and try and moor at Trevor, nice pub, and if you can get into the basin, nice moorings. If not, go back over aqueduct and find a nice mooring. some 48hour ones just after lift bridge on way back, then you could try the hideous yellow pub in Froncysllte. Can't remember what its called, the Aqueduct maybe.
  20. we passed a boat recently called Ivor Long 1....I actually read it out loud before I 'got it'
  21. That's a view of the Deep I haven't seen before, thanks. Love the magnificent Humber Bridge, great photos. looks like you've had a great time
  22. That's a good incentive to get you back. Try the Minerva pub by the pier if you come back. Bit 'spit n sawdust' but real ales and nice food. Moorings seem a bit steep, but if it's your 'big' trip of the year you don't mind do you....
  23. I tried the website last night, and don't like it! You get a google map of the UK & you have to click on one of the orange icons & it tells you which camera it is , but if your geography isn't very good you could be there forever clicking on them all! Shame as I used to enjoy looking at the waterways around the country. A backward step with their website as far as I can see
