  1. If you need to contact me regarding your Paloma water heater, then please give me a call on: 07932 815 207
  2. Call me if you've not managed to sort it. Palomabob Tel: 07932 815 207
  3. Sounds like a partial blockage in the bypass, de-scale the water inlet control valve including the slow ignition valve, check the venturi is clear and that the pressure plate springs back smoothly. Although de-scaling will clear limescale, it won't clear silicon and alike sealants, which I've found to be one of the biggest killers of Paloma water heaters.
  4. First guess, not enough gas ! Main valve opens to feed burners, what little gas there is goes there rather than the pilot, hence the pilot goes out.
  5. Thank you, if you could give me a call when its available that would be great as I don't drop in here that often. Regards Bob Tel: 07932 815 207
  6. By any chance would you be selling the Rinnai water heater ?
  7. The 'O' ring seal on the activating rod has failed, allowing water to pass from the water control valve and exiting via the weep hole. To replace this its best to remove the whole burner assembly and dismantle the diaphragm housing. Looking at the condition of the weep hole I would be surprised if the return spring has not rusted away too.
  8. Hi Pip, If you'd like to give me a call I'll see what I can do to help. Regards Bob Tel: 07932 815 207

  14. Hi there, Which model Paloma do you have ? Regards Bob
  15. This information has been taken from the Manual for the Paloma Ph-5-3F. The Heater has a heat input at full rate of 11.6 kw [39,600 Btu/h] 1, Compartment installation with direct access to outside air: Free area top vent:54cm2. Free area low vent 108cm2 2, Intallation in room with direct access to outside air: Free area top vent 54cm2 3, Installation in a room or compartment with indirect access to outside air: Free air top vent 108cm2. Free air low vent 216cm2 These are the minimum effective free area of vents in connection with this heater.
  16. Hi, The Paloma may have suffered frost damage and if so it can easily be replaced/repaired or maybe its missing its drain valve ! ?
  17. Hi there, Your Paloma PH5-LFE does not have a Pilot cleaning pin, you'll have to remove the jet and clean it manually. A note of caution the hole in the jet is very fine !!
  18. Yes, the one that's held in place by the Stainless collar, you'll need to bring it back in to line so it sits square in the housing.
  19. Hi, The heat exchanger pipe exiting the inlet control valve appears to have been bent probably caused from being frozen. Remove the pipe check 'O' ring and replace if damaged, straighten the retaining clamp and GENTLY bend pipe back in to line with the housing. You should now be able reassemble and be leak free. From looking at your pictures there does appear to be gap between the two halves of the diaphragm housing which may of also so suffered from freezing. Your Paloma is a PH-5LFE and does not have a standing pilot cleaning button or gauze filter. Regards Bob
  20. Hi, I don't think you'll find another heater of that size with auto ignition unless it one of the water heaters imported from USA. If you wish to replace it with a Bosch 135[auto ignition] there's one on ebay for sale. IMO. you'd be better of with the Paloma ! but then I would say that.
  21. Frost is by far the biggest killer of them all, but the LFE can also suffer from damage to the sensitive push button ignition but a far worse problem is oxidization to the alloy bore in which the activating rod passes back and forth. I have seen many where the rod has opened up the gas valve but has become stuck and fails to return to shut the burners off. This is when you find out how good the sensor is ! Sorry I don't understand the abbreviation G.H.W.H
  22. Yes, most of the LFE's do have sensors but I believe the early ones were available without the draught diverters and I have a LFE draught diverter without the slot for the sensor to fit in to.They also have a shorter connecter on the Mag valve with no room to take the wires for the sensor. The PH-5-3F are the older model although there was a cross over period and I agree they are better looking, better made and easier to repair !
  23. Hi all, For what its worth if the Paloma in question is a PH-5-3F then it will not have a sensor fitted to the draught diverter and will operate with a bolt in place of the drain/pressure relief valve [not recommended though]. Most although not all Paloma PH-5LFE's were fitted with the sensor but they do require the correct drain valve to work correctly. Hope this is of some help and forgive me as this is my first post.
