Thanks. I'm also wondering how they work, in layman's terms. My understanding is that they take power from the battery and 'convert' it into short bursts of high voltage current which dissolve the sulphation crystals. Is that right?

I'll let you know in 3 years, 11 months. I did recently take a pair of hiking shoes back to Cotswold Outdoor after 11.5 months. I do a lot of walking and had basically worn them out. They were more than happy to provide me with a brand new pair and re-set the clock on the warranty. Result!

Until now, I've always just gone for bog-standard leisure batteries, bought from a chandlers. Not sure I agree with this. I don't pay for storage but I can see the point of it. It depends on what you're into. If you have a hobby which requires bulky items - say kayaking, then having a place to store you kit, other than on your cabin top, is very useful. I like hiking and camping, I daren't say how many different tents/rucksacks/sleeping bags I have.

The Tesco at Five Ways has gone. There's one slightly further away at Springhill. The Morrisons is still there and a convenient short walk from any city centre mooring. Supermarkets are very easy to find on Google maps. Just set the visible map to the area you want to search in, and type "supermarket" in the search box.
