  1. Ok, so I should take the 4 ft draft quoted by CanalPlan with a pinch of salt.
  2. Hi Alan, Different boat, 31ft 8in by 10ft 10in, draft 3ft 3in, airdraft 8ft.
  3. Hi all, Hoping so done can help me understand airdraft limitations on the Trent between Sawley and York. My understanding, from CanalPlan, is that there is an 8ft limit at Meadow Lane Junction but I wonder how tight that would be on a boat with an 8ft draft, and whether it is viable after heavy rainfull. Also whether there are any other bridges that might prove challenging along the way? Thanks in advance
  4. Thanks for feedback. I haven't seen the unit myself (or taken the pics) but will try and find out if there is a control panel with it. Is it viable to fire up the unit somehow?
  5. Have finally got some pics as per the attached. It looks like it has been moderately used (or maybe well used) but beyond that I have no real idea what it might be worth? There does appear to be a lack of user panel for it, should there be one? Is there any easy(ish) way of running one of these on a workbench/garage floor to prove it works?
  6. Thanks again. My friend will get 50% of the sale and he very much deserves it so I am keen to help.
  7. Thanks Mike, I think I, or probably someone vaguely more technical, needs to take a look at it. Will post more info as and when....
  8. Hi all, A friend of a friend has inherited a Mastervolt Whisper 3500 50hz generator that he has no use for and is looking to sell. The guy he inherited it from (now deceased) had planned to install it into a boat but beyond that I have no information about its condition or hours used etc. The question for the experts then is what do you think it might be worth if "sold as seen". I appreciate that is a difficult question to answer without more info but a rough idea based on basket/average/virgin condition would be very helpful. If i get time I might try and have a look and get some pics in the coming weeks. Thanks in advance.
  9. Did Sawley to the Erewash a few weeks ago and it was very pleasant. But it is due to p!ss down this weekend which might make it more challenging?
  10. If it is the house I am thinking of, the "no mooring" signs don't look like official signage to me?

    Star City

Had a good days cruise from Catherine de Barnes and didn't feel the need to stop until Curdworth. No trouble anywhere, plenty on friendly locals and some interesting sights.
  12. Evening all! Reading various posts it seems the general wisdom is that stopping between Catherine de Barnes and Curdworth is not advisable, except perhaps at Star City? So a couple of questions- 1 - do you/can you book a mooring at Star City? 2 - if full are there any alternatives? 3 - Which part of Curdworth specifically is good before/after the locks etc? Cheers, Bernie
  13. Any ideas on best place to buy diesel around Kingswood Junction or south towards Stratford?
  14. Didn't see any signs or flowers. Noted that it had a small outboard.
  15. It was there last weekend. It's an unusual looking craft, anyone know the history?
  16. There is one at Thrupp, near the lift bridge.
  17. Love our trad stern but sometimes wish we had a cruiser stern to make life easier and more sociable on the move (but not in the rain). However a socking great tug deck would also be nice
  18. According to Everbuild, the manufacturers of said bitumen, it is no longer suitable for water tanks. Which is confusing as some resellers still quote it as being suitable. What I am uncertain of (and waiting on an answer from Everbuild) is whether the change is due to a change to the product or because of a "directive"? Anyone know the answer?
  19. Lets hope this is a positive lead, great work. I may have missed it but is there a detailed description of the potential suspect?
  20. Indeed, you were in the Boat in 2014.
  21. More pics please, really good to see the great work you are doing.
