  1. I would add Gower Branch to take in the BCNs staircase, I like to mix the old and new main lines with a combination of Brades locks, Spon Lane locks and Smethwick locks.
  2. As a license holder you should have received details of the C&RT council elections, if you also volunteer you would have received the volunteer candidates to vote for them as well.
  3. I did pass a cruiser this year moored in the bridge hole just before Handsacre.
  4. The worse boats moored that I regularly encounter are narrowboats that in the last couple of years have decided mooring on the bend in Little Haywood is a good location. They are a right pita as the over hanging trees on the offside make it just about wide enough for two narrowboats to get through so with one moored up and the high probability of a hire boat or day boat coming the other way the chances of touching the moored boat is quite high. I've commented to a few when they stick their head out to complain that they are moored in a stupid location.
  5. He was stood on the stern last time we went past.

  7. When we moored at Saul junction I tended to go up to Stourport if heading for the Shroppie and Worcester or Droitwich if heading elsewhere. Never really looked at the timings as didn't feel it made much difference but always felt going up Tardebigge and down Wolverhampton was a lot of extra work
  8. Are you certain it won't fit through Napton locks, has it been tried and failed.
  9. Looks to be the same location as featured here, https://new.millsarchive.org/mills/index/?which=3456
  10. I've had that issue when single handing and getting caught by the wind. Eventually I used the reverse back in to tree lined section to get shelter from the wind and was then able to off the bank.
  11. Glass goes black due to not burning the stove hot enough, when I really get ours roaring the glass cleans off quite quickly.
  12. Did you finally do a Google image search.
  13. Perhaps the clue was linked to it being a photo taken during a cruise of 3 boats with a man in each boat.
  14. I've used CRT showers plenty of times, sometimes I'll use a shower whilst filling our water tank, sometimes I am moving a working boat with no onboard facilities.

  17. It was copied from the CRT faq related to the new surcharges.
  18. I have a number of windlasses that wouldn't be left on the boat if we ever sold it, there would be 3 or 4 left behind though.
  19. The nice Mr Google tells me it is the construction of the Cherwell Cut. You will find the same picture on the bottom of this page https://thames.me.uk/s02430.htm.

  21. Generally not an issue with a cassette, more something to consider with a macerator and pump out.
  22. I find pulling all the hose out from the reel speeds up filling as usually, somewhere in the coiled up hose, is a kink that significantly reduces flow.
  23. The same photo is on https://www.lookandlearn.com/history-images/M628433/Goring-Church-and-Streatley-Mill and captioned with Goring Church and Streatley Mill. Illustration for The Thames Illustrated by John Leyland (George Newnes, 1898).
  24. I've found Excel burns best on our stove, fill it up with plenty of air and it heats up quickly then reduce the air and let it tick over all day. It generally picks up quickly in the morning but if it dies down too much overnight a few bits of kindling gets it going again. I don't find ash is too bad, tend to empty the ash pan every couple of days.
  25. Plenty of fuel and plenty of air, once the fire is roaring and hot then reduce the air to keep it ticking over.
