  1. Perhaps if the Marina had a higher level than the canal and was linked to the canal via a stop lock that might work. But if that isn’t the case then CRT provide the water for the boats to float in…hence there is a charge. If you don’t want to pay you take your boat out the water…but then you pay for keeping it on land….think of It like a standing charge for gas or electricity….
  2. In my most recent direct dealing sorting out an EoG mooring Ive actually found them incredibly helpful and organised...much more so than say estate agents or solicitors....I really couldn't fault them....yes they aren't perfect in some things...blue signs for one and towpath improvements over navigation but in my personal contact I have to say I was impressed.
  3. I would say the same about most of the boating you tube brigade......

  15. It’s also to do with torque as much as HP….my JP2 is 18hp…but lots of torque to swing a prop that would stall a 42hp beta….

  18. As I said it's just something to be aware of....worth using the tap at Tarelton to top the water tank up while you wait for the tide....it's also worth a wander up to the town as its good restocking point...there was a good indian takeaway when we were there as well. Also be aware that it wasnt that easy to get diesel on the Lancaster...so worth topping up at either Fettlers wharf or St marys.....depending on your timescale it's worth spending some time on the Lancaster...you can always have days out on the train from carnforth etc. We really enjoyed it....we had 2/3 weeks over there...a week wouldn't have done it justice to my mind.

    JP2M swivel pin?

I purposely did it in metric as I thought that would be most useful to a machine shop if one needed to be made!!🤣....Last time I supplied imperial measurements to such a place there was much confusion and teeth sucking!
  20. They are the BMW/Audi of the waterways.....the owners seem to have a very similar mindset...

    JP2M swivel pin?

I would just say check the dimension of the speed rod...Ive a feeling mine might not be original so the hole might need to be a size to suit what you have. Ive also realised the measurements dont add up and are 0.45mm out...but they might be close enough for a JP!

  25. I dont doubt all is well but were you punching the tide on the trent?...My engine was definitely worked harder on the Ribble than it was on Trent where you usually go with the tide for the majority of the journey. It's just something to be aware of....I also ran my alde pump so used the calorifier as a heat exchanger into the radiators.....and ran the hot water off just to be safe.
