    Don't see any logic to putting a guard around the flue for safety reasons, when the stove itself is larger and hotter and closer to touch.

    I know of one young tradesman using sprayfoam in a narrowboat last year, who was working near his log burner stove. The fumes from the foam suddenly exploded in his face. He is now disfigured and disabled for life, and will probably never work again. Whatever you do, take exreme care.

    I remember in the 1950s all our buses had a notice "Do not spit on the floor". Seems it was OK to spit on the ceiling!!

    I remember the days when it was an enjoyable sport. That was before it plummeted into the mire of global corporate business and billionnaires' playthings. It's fans now are just pawns being used to fill their pockets.

    Where did you get that from? I can find no answer to my question as to whether or not the compressor would run at all.

    I think you mean "as long as the prop is not turning". The engine can be running - as long as its in neutral!

    Does the motor run at all? If so, can you feel any ice forming on the cooling evaporator?
