  1. We stayed in the basin in April with no problems and we are going back the first week of November.
  2. It may well be out of date, but discussions with CRT would suggest it may even be less. That discussion took place less than a week ago.
  3. With regard to the current VM trials, the CRT survey did not apparently reach out to too many continuous cruisers, so other cruisers were more than happy with the changes. I had an opportunity to put the ccer's case to a Trustee and as far as CRT are concerned 'other boaters favoured the change' and 'people like you' will have to deal with it.
  4. There aren't. The RBOA figures state 4400 registered ccers, however claim less than half are compliant.
  5. How dare you suggest you are the only people who make an effort. Other people are making an effort even if they don't belong to a group. I know plenty of people who are championing the ccers cause. I for one am, as you well know, but if what someone else does not fit in with your opinions, my god you turn into the tasmanian devil. And believe me, some individuals do get heard. You should't be so arrogant to believe you are the only ones with the ear of CRT.
  6. There is such an organisation - it's called the RBOA.
  7. It would depend where you are moored. As a genuine continuous cruiser, the issues that affect us are: post restante availability, getting repeat prescriptions, dental appointments, boat upkeep, getting new bank cards (usually takes a week) and a whole load of other issues. To deal with most of these things you need to be within walking distance of a town. Currently the mindset of CRT is to turn all 'popular' VMs which include towns into 48hr moorings. So if I have a dental appointment which requires a return visit in a weeks time, I have to go away and then hope when I get back there is space for me to moor etc, That is to say they don't but a 'no return' restriction on them..
  8. What a lovely day. Made it safely through Teddington Lock, now going to more just before Kingston tonight, as I want to have a full day in Kingston tomorrow. Need to buy that wool lol.

  9. Home sweet home. Had a lovely time with the girls, and Harrison loved his birthday present. So worth the trip.

  10. Off to visit my lovely girls and grandchildren this morning in Telford - 2 buses and 2 trains to get there.

  11. The angling clubs get the permit charges as they rent sections of canal and other waterways.
  12. Thanks MJG. How do you determine competence. You hear such horror stories. I saw a burnt out boat last year due to a poor installation of a stove. J
  13. Hi everyone Our boat is now 8 yrs old and we are continuous cruisers 365 days a year. As the winters are now getting a bit colder, we are exploring the possibility of having a stove installed. We currently have diesel central heating, but on really cold days we find we need to put an electric fan heater on in the mornings until the boat warms up. We have a lot of knowledge of boating, but believe a stove should be installed professionally, because of the safety aspect. Can you tell me who (which profession) we should approach to have this done. Any help and advice would be most appreciated. Many thanks. Jean
