  1. I think the approach taken by contacting C&RT was simple & effective. Not everything has to be a drama. I have previously done the same & in all my dealings with C&RT & BW before them, found them to be excellent.
  2. Having read the arguments I still side with what we already have. However, I think the debate is worthwhile. License fee Mooring fee (online or Marina)- personal choice or CC. I appreciate there are not always moorings where you want them. Insurance BSS We have an online mooring with C&RT & AGREE to pay their levy . If we chose to have a marina berth you pay the rate the owner sets for it. Over complicating the process would vastly increase the administration costs. You cannot tailor a system to suit everyone's personal circumstances. The basic argument is what is 'fair'. People will differ on this until the cows come home. For what it's worth, I think I get value for money.
  3. we have a boatman & love it. Please note we have never has a squizza so cannot comment on that. With our back boiler it also heats 1x rad in bathroom & fin rad above the bed under gunwhale. Main fire box keeps the saloon & galley toasty, a combined 20ft. MTB's review on the Boatman is very fair IMHO & useful for guidance. He was spoilt for 24yrs by the sound of it.
  4. time to visit the 'middle isle' at Aldi. Buy a decent head torch & spare batteries. Hang the torch next to the exit door. I NEVER go outside the boat in the dark without one, especially in winter. Glad you are ok.
  5. Hi Pennie- Sometimes you just have to make an investment. This weekend on our boat has been great! Cold outside, Boatman with back boiler heating rad in bathroom & fin rad under bedroom gunwhale & piping to the expansion tank at the stern. Nice & warm. We had ours professionally installed & the key I am told is the elevation / level of the piping etc (cannot offer any more tech than that but it works a treat). I was sat listening to music with a glass of red with Missus Sonic. No TV, just bliss. Get a new one. It will be worth it as a stove on a boat should be too hot to touch with the ickle eco fan spinning like a good un as MTB stated. Boatman stove gets a vote from me, especially now Eddie has upped the spec again. Our boat is 40ft btw with stove in the middle. We get 20 degrees+ easily.
  6. East Europe Lady. If you will not provide a full description of the boat with some photos please stop wasting my lunch break!
  7. I am in the really like it gang. Thanks to Mr Moore for the history bit.
  8. our mate has a 7.5ft cruiser stern & fits his custom 'Harley chop' on it. Extra weight at front added. A push bike should be easy
  9. Ajna- Don't bother. Looks like some on here have a barrow full of excuses for him. Like others have said, it would be totally different it he was moored next to them.
  10. Jeez, has Jeremy Corbyn's fan club taken over the forum. Some peeps need to jump back onto Planet earth & stop sounding like 60's hippies. Not paying taxes...... right on Wolfie, power to the people. Give me a break.
  11. Fine response. Agreed on 'Hawkwind' though. So he should be able to do what he wants but not have a day named after him
  12. He probably cannot get over the fact that he was brought up being made to listen to Hawkwind & Jethro Tull. For this reason alone he should be allowed to do whatever he wants & have a day named after him!
  13. It's definitely 'Chinese airspace' out there today, so get the fire going........ A 'nip in the air' for sure. Coat....................................................
  14. If I slept fully stretched out I would think the Co-op would be knocking at the door very soon. We have a 4ft cross bed. I'm 5ft 8 & Mrs Sonic is 5ft 4 (nearly) & Dog 2ft 1. Not a problem for me or Dog, but......... She would like it 5ft wide, with a teas made, TV, balcony, maid quarters........... I love our boat!
  15. whilst I appreciate that there are a few exceptions where CRT appear to wrong (Nigel Moore has clearly shown in many threads), surely this is only a tiny fraction of the total number of boats on the cut? I have been fortunate to speak with many CC'ers this summer. They fall into 2 groups from what I see. Group 1- retired / solvent- travel many miles & never stop anywhere for more than a few days & appear very happy. Think some in Group 2 are giving them a bad name. Group 2- Try to stay as near as possible to their preferred location for work, school, social life etc. Shuffle cars / bikes etc. A bit miffed at having to move every 7 / 14 days. Some freely admit to moving back & forth over a mile or so. Lack of moorings & not liking marinas as too expensive & like living on a Housing estate etc. I have no beef with either groups but do wonder how Group 2 can continue to have a CC license? My advice to newbies would be very careful if you want have a CC license. I could just about manage it but chose have a mooring instead.
  16. Informative Nigel, thanks This made me laugh out loud. Sarcasm at it's best (I think)!; [in response to CaRT saying “your Honour will immediately have noticed the relevance of that subsection.”] – “Counsel always say that when they know you do not have a clue what you are talking about, but go on.” Sonic
  17. 300w on tilting brackets with MPPT controller on Acorn. Only ran Engine twice since April. Just to see if it still worked LOL. (except for a couple of trips out) 12v Fridge, stereo, gogglebox & LED lights. Very impressed.
  18. Loving the positive attitude! Maybe a user name change is on the cards soon. 'Notbrassedoffanymore' ?
  19. Were at Hawkesbury Junction on the Coventry. We've had ZERO enforcement since April. Glyn moved to another area. One boat moored on the same 7 day mooring for over 10 weeks & a few move moving back & forth 200yrds. Glyn was a fantastic Enforcement Officer & we want him back! Very fair & conducted himself professionally.

  21. every liveaboard should own a pair of plastic clogs from Aldi. Mrs Sonic on the other hand, is not impressed with them. I called her a snobby bint! She said, ''I'm not a snob, it's just you look like a tw$t!''
  22. Thanks for posting the picture Laurence- Mr Barlow's sister, Elsie, was my 70yr old brother in Law's mum. She had a butty names after her. Brother in law was going to have a motor named after him...... but he did something naughty so the name was changed to something else. It was such a shame ALL of the many items (100's) of memorabilia went missing in the sixties (hmm). My Brother in law only has the little cup presented to Mr Barlow in 1961 (I think) when the Business ceased. Cant wait to show the old fella this picture.
  23. Tony- Would you not benefit from trying to be a little more civil? Whereby, Nigel, who has supported you appears very resonable in this debate. For what it's worth I was wrong in my original opinion of your situation & was not very civil in a previous post. I apologise for both.. I am really enjoying Nigel's perspective & continue to learn from him. It would be nice to learn from you too without the angst. With the greatest respect. What I have taken from this whole episode is that it appears in simple terms that C&RT took their actions based purely on them not liking you because you wound them up. Basically it became personal & the facts were ignored until the last minute. A receipe for a costly disaster! The Sonic.
  24. Ron- Dogs are becoming very clever on slippery surfaces. Bloody poncey posh flooring in homes etc. I hate laminate flooring but do enjoy throwing a tennis ball & watching Ripley try & gain traction to start the chase & making an almighty noise at the outlaws LOL. Very cartoon like. We have cushion floor on the boat with a couple of rugs. Ripley gets a quick wallop with the newspaper if she forgets that a continuous 'tipper tapper tipper tapper tipper tapper' really annoys the arse off both of us.
