  8. Would like to fit a pretty low power one.Any advice on wether safe to fit to bathroom wall and run its cable through a hole and plug into 240 supply in room next to bathroom? Cheers, Ian.

Hi, Looking for a mechanic who will service my Beta engine and also spend a little time tutoring me on it.I have a reasonable knowledge of engines and could change oil and filters myself.As this is my first boat though i want to make sure all is done correctly.I note that RCR offer a service of this type,anyone used it? We run a limited company,both directors and often are treated as self employed.We went to RSL earlier this year for a loan, although we never got as far as being refused the saga ran for several weeks being asked for various imformation.Gave in finally and went to our bank manager and was offered funding right away.Having run our company for many years we have gotten used to various companies treating buisness owners as high risk.RSL just seemed yet another of these self important poorly run ones...Good luck itl work out ok in the end i expect. Our boat has 4 plus 1 110 amp batteries,a 1600W Victron combi and all works lovely.I would like to fit an ammeter just so i can keep an eye on charge levels.As im not very electrically savvy should i get a man in or is it a fairly simple fitting job? I am considering how to fit a steering seat to my boat.One idea i have is to use the fittings that are usually for table supports,with a bar stool type seat attached.The bottom fitting would be bolted to my engine board,mine being hexboard.Has anyone tried this or something similar? I am concerned about the boards strength,also the strength of the fittings.All comments appreciated. Cheers, Ian.

  16. I have noticed the odd reference to cruiser sterns having a tendency to leak water into the engine and cabin bilges.Is this so and anyone care to elaborate? p.s hope this question is not to upsetting Phylis... Ian.

  18. Precisely so Blodger, I maybe,probably am wrong but i figured a particular engine would have a swwet spot in its range irrespective of prop size,boat size and design etc.Answer suggest though that same type engines are run at various speeds.Sorry i asked now lol... Ian

  22. Thanks for that Dave,I keep meaning to take a satnav with me to check but get excited about going out and forget....i was really wondering if 1600rpm is acceptable for the engine? Ian.
  23. My boat runs a Beta 38.Wondered what rpm is considered a good cruising rate for this engine? Mine runs at around 1600rpm when doing what i estimate to be around 3.5 to 4 mph. Ian

  25. No i agree and it doesnt cause me any problems.I do wonder tho how often these things need topping up? Mine havnt needed any attention as yet over the last 4 months . Ian
