  1. I had a letter about it from my local MP Andrew Lewer Northampton South.

I am deeply concerned that the Energy Bill Support still does not cover a non-permanent caravan or mobile home site such as Billing Aquadrome.

I know that the availability for these discounts such properties are “currently under review” and therefore I am making representations to the Department for Energy Security with the following Written Parliamentary Question:

“Can the Secretary of State for Business and Trade provide clarity, both in terms of scope and timescale, around her Department's review into the exclusion from the Energy Bill Support Scheme of those occupying non-permanent park home sites, considering in particular that many are economically vulnerable and primarily reside there

  2. The EA at my marina doesn't inspire confidence.

    Cleaning

We are increasing our cleaning regime for all washrooms, toilets, showers, laundry, pump out, elsan and water taps. Our cleaning contractor has provided cleaning fluids that are designed to be anti-bacterial and help combat viruses.

& the local hospital where my missus works is making the cleaners share with each other & re-use those hazmat suits instead of throwing them away. Plus they don't get masks.

  3. We need a new cratch cover, the 13 year old PVC 1 is all falling apart.

I was thinking of using AJ Canopies of Braunston, & getting their canvas type cover instead of PVC.

    Q. Are AJ Canopies any good?

    The missus wants windows.

    Q. How long are those windows likely to last? I've seen old ones where the clear plastic has discoloured & cracked.

  4. I got annoyed going up Foxton, no boats coming down & only 2 going up including us. The boat in front had 6 people in their late 20s or early 30s & was being helped by 4 volockies, basically all having a good old natter. Yet we (just 2 of us in our 40s) didn't get any help at all. The icing on the cake was when they told us to wait at the crossover bit until another boat came down even though there were no boats waiting to come down.

Well we didn't wait & the rest of that day no more boats came past in the opposite direction even after we moored for the night.

  5. Is this the future of blacking?

Mango leaves: Indian scientists’ solution to a $2.5 trillion global shipping problem

A team of Indian scientists has developed a compound from the leaf of the mango tree that can protect ships from rusting, which is far more efficient than synthetic paints while also being non-toxic and environment-friendly...

I rarely get up tight with speeding boaters these days (life is too short) but today a boat passed at what seemed like motorway speed.. His excuse was we are on a schedule!!

Wasn't us, he's lying. Currently on the Nene

Ah now, there is a problem here you may not be aware of yet.

Pumpout connoisseurs I've watched pumping out seem to like to rock the boat furiously from side to side whilst using a length of 10mm copper tube on the end of a main pressure hose pipe to lift and rinse out all the, um, solids that settle and stick on the floor of the tank.

I suspect like batteries, the capacity of your pump out tank is slowly reducing if you are not fully emptying it like this.

Or it is the other way around....?

Yep, this. Ours was reaching the point it would only last 2 weeks. I assumed a pipe had rotted & therefore wasn't emptying it. So we decided to replace it with a cassette. It turns out the pumpout was half full of dried up toilet paper...
