    you welcome. The reason why falling lane is so high is because the bridge still remains buried under the road....I'm told.

    They were there earlier in the year, under the counter in you picture as I saw them..load sheets of some sort. He said there's loads in the loft and the seller. also in the room there is a chest of draws that was full of them.

    I can ask the owner at cowley lock if you like, I live just around the corner from there and know him quite well.

    To my knowledge there are there are a lot of records still at cowley lock house which is now the café, I have seen them under the old counter if anyone is interested.

    I think you are right. After closer inspection you can see the drop ramp and the mechanism to raise it. Someone said it was used for training during WW2.

    The water level in our local fishing lake has dropped so much it has revealed this.. (see photos) Anyone know what it is?? I think it might be a pontoon..

    The ivel navigation in Bedfordshire is a good one. Runs from shefford to the great ouse. Most still in water with lock chambers.

    Wasn't that what happened at cosgrove....? and the lock there was the top lock of a flight of 7 or so.....

    Hi, thank you for your reply. I believe that I have some newspaper cuttings regarding Sam Thorn and some birth/death certs also. I shall dig these out this evening, and see if we can tie the history up. Again thank you.

    I don't know if you would still be interested in the information that I have regarding Samuel Thorn and Lydia Clayton as there is quiet a bit of information already posted. This couple are my great grandparents and I have researched the family tree quite a bit in recent years. Please contact me if you would like more information as would be happy to help with this.
